Mother Earth

Mother Earth

On the darkest night or the brightest day.

She is always around to play.

Some act as they hate it with all their heart.

Others miss her when they are apart.

She sings us songs without words.

It’s the loveliest thing you ever heard.

It blends  with the colors in her dress.

As she turns & twirls without any rest.

She is valued above any other like her.

All her children want to be like her.

She shines like a bright diamond.

Yet,  covers herself in mystery blinded.

She was here through every age.

Each day she turns a new page.

She may cry and she may smile.

Sun shining bright all the while.

She gives life to everyone.

Yet, may turn sick without any sun.

She will fast & make herself well.

How long she can last,  only time will tell.—R. W. Johnson—–(2013)

The Sounds Of Silence

      The Sounds Of Silence

When a city goes under does this mean the end?

Is it happening now to the city you’re in?

In this day and age changes happen fast.

One day you’re on top. The next you’re under the grass.

What do you do when congress runs amuck?

It seems every problem is just too tough.

They can’t seem to agree on anything at all.

It’s enough to make a grown man bawl.

Makes you think of the song: “Tobacco Road”.

The way they resolved the heavy load.

Tear it down & start all over again.

Can we start over with this nation again?

Seems unlikely. A good start; bring God back.

Let them read the Bible. Cut them some slack.

Put prayer in schools and give children a choice.

When they grow up maybe they’ll have a voice.

Put the 10 commandments on the courthouse wall.

For all to see, & let it be a guide to one and all.

Teach creationism along with evolution.

Let people have a choice & come up with a solution.

Reestablish the U.S. Constitution & amendments.

When in full effect it’s hard to condemn  it.

Strongly enforce freedom of religion.

Separate church and state. Make the decision.

Pray to God for guidance in all you do.

Do all to the glory of God. Don’t be a fool.

Try these things for a start.

Once under way don’t tear it apart.

It’s  our only chance to delay the end because

if we don’t there will be trouble like there never was.

So fight for the right to stand up and be heard.

You’re very life may depend on every word.

A Radical Change

A Radical Change

Exercise is a real gas.

Sweat like a pig to reduce your ass.

Some people call it pretty rash.

But, it really is a real blast.

To do it right you must eat right too.

Healthy food is good for you.

Not talking hay, like in a zoo.

Fresh food that has good flavor too.

Soon your body starts to get toned.

You have your muscles really honed.

When beach is mentioned, you no longer moan.

You say yes instantly by voice or phone.

You worked for this look. Now show it off.

Don’t even think about the cost.

You’re looking good. Now you’re the boss.

Be proud to tell of your weight loss.

Tell others it wasn’t so bad.

The end result has made you glad.

The lifestyle change is really rad.

Sugar sucks!! —-So don’t be sad.————-R. W. Johnson—–(2013)

You Belong To Me

      You Belong To Me

Nature never did give wolves telepathy.

Nothing they didn’t already have.

And blue was the color of serenity.

Not the tropic of Sir Galahad.

So, when you see the tree.

When it’s bending down, down, down.

Birds are scared.

Flying all around, round, round.

Oh, can’t you see?

You belong to me.

White,  wind blowing, covering all.

Changing the landscape  endlessly.

Nothing changes it’s endless call.

It is total serenity.

No one comes. no one goes.

Is there anyone?

No one knows.

No one to ever have any fun.

That’s the way they say it goes.

So, can’t you see?

You belong to me.

There is no end. Just beginnings.

Over and over again.

Who is the one really winning?

Is looking back really a sin?

Desolate and  deserted.

Like the heart of one once loved.

Should he have ever flirted?

Will he ever be loved?

The end is coming. Bearing down fast.

Finally, the end at last.

Now, can’t you see?

You belong to me.—————————R. W. Johnson—–(2013)

Self Mutilation

Self Mutilation

She was burning herself.

And her hair was filled with ashes.

She was burning herself.

Using a cigarette instead of matches.

What could make a person go that far?

To bring pain upon herself.

Not to mention it left a scar.

Was she punishing herself?

See the shiny blade cut into her arm.

Watch the blood flow freely.

Seems all she does is harm.

She was never greedy.

She had enough to be content.

Her life seemed to be going fine.

There was nothing to resent.

That’s what made it such a crime.

What would make one do it?

The pain of the knife cutting flesh.

Was she driven by demons to do it?

Was her desire for attention  at its best?

I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.

HER PASSION IS HER PAIN!!

God’s Mysterious Ways

God’s Mysterious Ways

I was in the café reading a paperback.

Sipping my coffee and kicking back.

In came a couple and ordered breakfast..

Another customer was asking for his check.

I looked out the window. Rain had begun.

Here came in two more, on the run.

Soon it was crowded. Noise level was high.

Just an average morning I thought with a sigh.

Someone asked to join me in my booth.

I said sure. To refuse would be uncouth.

It was a woman about my age.

Her perfume reminded me of sage.

I sipped my coffee & continued to read.

She got out her cell phone & dialed on speed.

I guess she was talking to her boss.

She explained how the account was facing a loss.

I heard a lot of ‘squawking’ on the other end.

She politely hung up , then said “Sorry friend.

“No problem”, I said in reply.

“I didn’t mean to disturb your reading time.”

“Like me, you read when you can, or at least try.”

I only nodded and said it was fine.

“What ya reading?” she asked

“An apocalyptic science fiction story.”

“Oh, science fiction is my favorite blast.”

“What is the name of that story?”

I told her and we started to talk.

She told me about herself.

We had a lot in common. Who would of thought?

I told her some about myself.

She seemed to grow quiet when I mentioned my religion.

I didn’t say anymore as she seemed turned off.

Before long she excused herself & fluttered out like a pigeon.

I saw a problem so I came on soft.

I knew her name so added her to my prayer list.

I sipped my coffee & watched the rain.

God led her here. I was sure of this.

Now, the work was the Holy Spirit’s, that was plain.

God works in mysterious ways.

We cannot know what He has in mind.

Maybe soon, one of these days.

I will meet her again, which will be fine.—–R. W. Johnson—–(2013)

A New Outlook On Life

A New Outlook On Life

I saw the beginning of the rain.

Rivulets of rain running down my window pane.

Nothing is worse than this pain in my heart.

Ever since we have been apart.

My precious love has gone from me.

Left me here in misery.

Guess I will close the door to my heart.

Keep it all inside me, in the dark.

I cannot be hurt like this again.

The suffering is too great to even begin.

All alone with no one to see

just how miserable can I be?

But wait, here’s a shoulder to lay my head.

Gently holding me as I lay here on the bed.

You have always been there through good and bad.

To give me hope when I am sad.

You never anger. You’re just supporting.

No matter who it is I’m courting.

Why? Why would you treat me this way?

Then it hit me. “You love me, “ was all I could say.

As I lay there and thought it through,

you are the only one for me too.

“I think I love you,” I said with affirmation.

His smile was my conformation.

From then on it was Jesus and I.

There may be others by and by.

But, always with Jesus in our mist.

There is no greater thing than this.

You and me and Jesus makes three.

Now that’s what I call a real family.

Why not come along for the ride.

Start walking with Jesus by your side.

With Jesus added to the equation,

your life is in for a new sensation.

On top of the world looking down on creation.

Just you, Jesus, and your friends and relations.

The Air Warriors

      The Air Warriors

I hear you’re running from the man

just as fast as you can

who goes by the name of the Sandman.

I hear he flies through the sky

like an eagle in the eye

of a hurricane that’s abandoned.

These were words once sung and told

from the days of battles old.

When men flew planes like acrobats.

Dog fights then were quite an act.

The more planes you could shoot down

the greater your reputation on the ground.

The Red Barron and Snoopy were such.

Fiction for comics without a stretch.

Based on an actual German pilot.

His 23 kills almost started a riot.

Like “Sink the Bismarck”  was to the Navy

during WWII driving them crazy.

The Red Baron was to the Air Force

during WWI a must to hit with a gun.

War heroes come from going through crap.

Like Audi Murphy, who went to hell & back.

But, the air pilots are a breed of their own.

They are top guns whose numbers have grown.

The planes are faster, the weapons better.

Yet, they carry on. Right to the letter.

If someone in your family has earned his wings,

they can teach you a few things.

Like tip your hat when a lady walks by.

Yet, kick some ass when you take to  the air.

Self Meditation

      Self Meditation

I had a little quiet time to myself.

I began thinking I need some help.

I am nearing the winter of my life.

I’ve seen the danger and the strife.

Life was always better in ‘the old days.’

It’s impossible to keep up with “the new ways.’

The important things now are family & friends.

I hope this list gets longer & never ends.

Everyone needs something to give their life meaning.

Be it religion, a job, a hobby , or just a feeling.

By feeling, I mean a strong desire to love others.

Not in a physical way. More like an agape mother.

Love thy neighbor as thy self type of love.

This desire must come from God above.

People need people. They need God too.

All are brothers and sisters  under God’s rule.

I am but a sinner. I feel like chief of them all.

I don’t think I’m one to spread the beckoned call.

But, I can’t keep quiet about changes going on in me.

It’s a strange feeling to have but, it can set you free.

So, as I sit here , deep in meditation.

Some people may say I need some medication.

But, whatever the case may be.

There are changes going on in me.

I haven’t reached my final destination yet.

I have a long way to go. On this you can bet.

But, I prefer a more sure thing.

In the Bible, I can hear the truth ring.

It is calling me loud and clear.

So, I guess I will proceed without any fear.

Various Poems

      The Crow

Crows are black, as we all know.

But, that doesn’t make them evil though.

Crows usually fly in flocks and squawk.

They make a lot of noise on my block.

But, sometimes, one crow will be near.

However, there is no need to fear.

If you go out he may fly away.

Then he is back the very next day.

When he squawks answer him.

Most likely he will squawk again.

His head will swivel back & forth.

Looking around for you, of course.

Crows could be a good omen.

You turn away and go back in.

Crows are only birds,—-right?

To answer that may take all night.

Some say yes. Others say no.

I guess you’ll have to ask the crow.———–R. W. Johnson—–(2006)

      The Secret

Way down deep in the recesses of your heart.

There is locked away a secret.

Deep within your heart.

Something cries to be released.

Within your heart.

Something causes you pain.

In your heart.

It wants to be released.

Aching heart.

It gives you pain.

It is time.

Time.

For the secret

To be revealed.————————–R. W. Johnson—–(2006)

      Forbidden Fruit

You say you’re worried about a civil suit?

After tasting some forbidden fruit.

I might think that a little odd.

But, not after you tasted it on the job.

What’s the matter? Have you lost your mind?

You just might end up doing jail time.

If you’re not tasting with whom you are wed,

you are thinking with the wrong head.

The end result——–You lost your job.

You can plead your case to God.

But, lust is a sin in His book too.

I’d hang it up if I were you.———————R. W. Johnson—–(2005)
