No Remorse

      No Remorse

Enjoying the sunshine in old Mexico,

we sat on a balcony and watched the sea roll.

Waves crashing on the beach.

Washing away all sin and deceit.

As I sipped at my Tequila,

I ordered  her a  Margarita.

We talked of times  in other places.

About the time we dressed in laces.

We talked  of plans and resolutions.

We decided we had no quick solutions.

We’ve been through all this before.

We  decide it’s time to close the door.

The good times have run their course.

We have reached our end with no remorse.

You’ll go your way and I’ll go mine.

Good times with others at a future time.

We’ve had the best of what was given.

Now it’s time for us to go on living.

We both agree to go our own way.

No regrets left for either to say.

So,  we enjoy one final drink together.

We talk of the past and about the weather.

We talk about how far we’ve come.

Though, at times, things were troublesome.

There were many happy times to compensate.

Many, many times we got to bed late.

But, it’s all behind us now.

You finish your drink and I take a bow.

A kiss on the cheek and you walk away.

I watch until you drive away.

I stand and finish my alcoholic tea.

Then I walk straight into the sea!!

The good times have run their course.

We have reached the end with no remorse.

You’ll go your way and I’ll go mine.

Good times with others at a future time.

We’ve had the best of what was given.

Now it’s time for us to go on living.

We both agree to go our own way.

No regrets left for either to say.—————R. W. Johnson—-(2012)

Building Trust

      Building Trust

When I said I was going to town.

I wasn’t going to fool around.

Where do you come up with these thoughts?

I have never done it so have never been caught.

You are suspicious whenever I am out of sight.

Tell me why? What gives you the right?

Have you been cheated on in the past?

Did some guy make you feel you were last?

Well, it ain’t me babe.

No, no, no it ain’t me babe.

To quote a song  way back in my past.

I would NEVER dump you on your ass.

I think we need to put truth first.

Build on it to something that’s not a curse.

Build to trust and faithfulness.

Not a smile and unfaithful kiss.

Commitment to one another.

We will love and be faithful to each other.

It’s easy to say, but harder to do.

Especially if one is suspicious like you.

Start with love for each other.

Like a marriage vow is to one another.

Commit to this till the day we die.

Come on now. Look me in the eye.

Say you will and I will to.

I will always be true to you.——————-R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Positively Negative

      Positively Negative

I am positive that you are negative.

Even though you say you are positive.

That’s negative thinking, to think you’re positive.

Positive thinking would be to accept you’re negative.

You’ll give a negative response, I’m positive.

You can never turn a negative into a positive.

Opposites attract. Of that I am positive.

Otherwise, I would try to avoid the negative.

But, negativity is positively negative.

A real turn off to someone  who is positive.

So why keep trying when you are negative?

That is a mystery question, I am positive.

Maybe too many positives become a negative.

Yet, that doesn’t seem right. I am positive.

A positive attitude will build you up positively.

A negative attitude will drag you down. Positively.

In the end I am confused . Are we negative or positive?

Either way. it is one big mess,—– positively.

The Change

      The Change

When I was small I had a plan.

I would escape to Fairyland.

Get myself a bucket of fairy dust.

Then bring it back without a fuss.

Sprinkle a little here. Sprinkle a little there.

Make my wish without a care.

The fairy dust would do the trick.

Make a lollypop out of a stick.

Change whatever I wanted to.

Make a better place for me and you.

Now that I’m older I need that dust.

Things need changed. That’s a MUST!!

But, ‘change’ is now a dirty word.

Yup, it’s true. Or haven’t you heard.

A certain President is pushing for ‘change’.

To want his ‘change’ is really lame.

I’ll keep my guns, job, and money.

You can have his ‘change’ now, honey.

Only the blind and dumb couldn’t see the mess.

This wonderful ‘change’ has caused, I’d guess.

So pull your head out of the sand.

It’s time for us to make a stand.

Enough is enough is often said.

In this case there’s been too much said.

I’m not talking from the lunatic fringe.

I’m not saying ’this all depends’.

I’m saying it just may be too late.

This country will no longer be great.

Fairy dust might not even help.

They are hitting below the belt.

We need prayers, prayers, and more.

Taking the country back is a big chore.

Tighten your belt and make a stand.

With the help of God, maybe we can.

The final choice is up to you.

You’ll die if you don’t. might live if you do.

Dangerous Games

Dangerous Games.

You and me

and HIV.

Ohh, what fun

It started to be.

Now I’m scared.

What will we do?

I may die

because of you.

All was fine

till you fooled around.

See what you got

for being a clown.

We both are doomed.

We’re going to die.

Because you had to

give him a try.

He gave you

a nasty dose

of HIV.

Now, can you boast?

You’ll pay the price,

and so will I.

For your little fling

with that “other” guy.———–R. W. Johnson——(1994)

Forgetting Not To Remember

        Forgetting Not To Remember

I keep forgetting not to remember

you are someone that I used to know.

I’ve done a lot since last September.

I can’t remember everywhere I go.

I’ve traveled around everywhere.

I saw the stars down in Kokomo.

I spent some time at the World’s Fair.

I even skied the Alps, —you know.

Around the world in 80 days.

Through storms and good weather.

I could hardly see for the haze.

Then, from tall mountains, see forever.

Still, I keep forgetting not to remember

you are someone that I used to know.

I had a ball on San Francisco Bay.

the Alaskan cruise was super fun.

At times it stayed light almost all day.

It was fun  watching the whales run.

I enjoyed Paris, with its nighttime life.

The food was rich and delicious.

I saw the Eiffel Tower lit up at night.

The beauty answered all one’s wishes.

An African safari was really right.

The monkeys were funny throwing kisses.

But, I keep forgetting not to remember

you are someone that I used to know.

Though I have kept busy while gone.

I can’t put it out of my mind.

I remember just where we went wrong.

I have always thought that you were fine.

So much more were we than friends.

I can’t get you out of my mind.

I guess which is right depends.

Are you looking from your eyes or mine?

From my eyes we would never be apart.

From your eyes we were friends, —no more.

To accept that really ripped up my heart.

I can’t forget your goodbye kiss at the door.

So, I keep forgetting not to remember

you are someone that I used to know.

Down In The Dumps

      Down In The Dumps

I’ve been feeling mighty low.

I don’t have anywhere to go.

I don’t have the energy to move.

I barely have enough to fix a little food.

I just lie here on the couch.

Wondering what life’s all about.

I flip through the TV channels.

Might as well look at hard wood panels.

It is all the same to me. All as boring as it can be.

No one takes the time to stop by.

They won’t even give the phone a try.

So life drags on for another day.

I just lie here and waste away.

Did God deal me an honest hand?

Did He make me all that I am?

At least I have two arms and legs.

I can’t really be one who begs.

My eyes and ears are good too.

I’m smart enough to not be a fool.

Then why am I here wasting away?

There has got to be a better way.

Let’s look at the want ads for jobs.

Looking for work is not too odd.

There’s lots of jobs I can do.

I must clean up and interview.

A month later I was looking good.

I had a job. the money was good.

Several girls were looking my way.

What else more is there to say?

I let myself sink into a hole of self pity.

The end result was not very pretty.

I’d like to say I pulled myself out.

But, prayer did the trick to get me out.

I found out later the prayers weren’t all mine.

Now, that person is with me all the time.

If not in person, then in my thoughts.

If I lose her I will really be distraught.

Happy days are here again.

With me & God & my new friend.

Sometimes O.K. Hurts

    Sometimes O.K. Hurts

Love can hurt, —–they say.

It can also hurt to say,  o.k.

Things started out like a wild wind.

Left me hoping it would never end.

I felt I was in the eye of a hurricane.

Things would never be the same.

A wild ride through ‘Lover’s Lane.’

Love was falling,  just like rain.

There were puffs of rainbow mist.

Electric shocks from just a kiss.

Star dust, fairy dust, mistletoe & hugs.

Romping through the ‘dreamland’ suds.

You and me, sailing off to eternity.

Returning each morning for our tea.

Excitement around every curve.

Making new memories,  as it occurred.

It was new and different every day.

So many games. So much to play.

It was like a dreamland walk.

Until it came to the place to talk.

It ended when you went your way.

All I could do was say—– o.k.——————R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

A Chance Meeting

      A Chance Meeting

It was raining the day I got to town.

Water falling from me all around.

It seemed no part of me was dry.

Water was dripping in my eyes.

I stepped into a mall to get dry.

I wiped the water from my eyes.

Before me stood a  woman in red.

Her beauty lost inside my head.

She said I looked like a drowned rat.

I said I was sorry about that.

“I walked into town in the rain.”

“That must have been a pain.”

“It was,” I said, water dripping down.

There was silence. Not a sound.

She said “You could use a warm drink.”

“I sure could.” I said with a wink.

“Come on, I’ll buy you some coffee.”

“You bet.” I said, “Black, not frothy.”

She laughed and led the way.

As we drank she happened to say

“What brings you to this town?”

“Passing through on my way around.”

“Around to where?” she said.

“To whatever comes into my head.”

“You’re a drifter then?”

“It depends on where I’ve been”

“What do you mean by that?”

“You’re not happy anywhere you’re at?”

“Anywhere’s a better place to be.”

“That’s a limited view, I can see.”

“Could you expand on that some more?”

She said “Have you never made a score?”

“You know.—- Someone to care for.”

“I’ve had my share of small town glories.”

“Nothing for which I would tell stories.”

“Do you think you will meet that ‘someone?’”

“Possibly, I won’t know till that day comes.”

We talked on one thing, then another.

Soon, we were happy we found each other.

It’s been years now since that day.

That ‘special’ someone came my way.

This town is now my home.

That lady in red is now known

as my one and only love.

That ‘special’ lady, from God above,

is the spice of my life, my loving wife.

Funny how things happen in life.————–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)
