Agape Love

      Agape Love

Rumor has it that your cheating on me.

Tell me how this can possibly be?

I’ve done more for you than can be conceived.

Now someone else is filling that need?

You were down and out when I came along.

I gave you hope to carry on.

I gave you strength to overcome.

I gave you more love than anyone.

I have actually always been there for you.

I helped when you needed me to.

You had to hit bottom before you called on me.

I was always pleading that you would see

I was there to help you all the time.

I would give you peace of mind.

I always helped you through the worst.

If you love only me I’ll remove the curse.

I’ll bestow blessings upon you untold.

Your every wish may now unfold.

Can another do such a thing?

Only briefly, for a little fling?

I plead you’ll give up his evil ways.

Repent and come back home to stay.

What About Me ?

      What About Me?

I saw you from across the room.

Walking in a cloud of gloom.

Your smile usually lit up a room.

It’s gone now. Much too soon.

I’ve been your friend for a long time.

I knew that guy wasn’t your kind.

You thought he was the special one.

Then he dumped you just for fun.

Now you are down in the dumps.

You wonder how he could be such a chump.

As your friend I know you did the same.

For years you acted just as insane.

Dumping one man after another.

I know. I am not your mother.

I know you were searching for ‘Mr. Right’.

You thought this last guy was out of sight.

You thought you finally found him.

Now, you are looking pretty grim.

Many men in your past felt the same.

They were serious,—– to you, a game.

They were dumped without a thought.

Now you see just what you wrought.

What comes around goes around.

Karma has knocked you to the ground.

Maybe you have looked to far and wide.

When he was here right by your side.

I am your friend, as you can see.

Yet I ask the question. What about me?—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

A Safe Haven

           A Safe Haven

Here I am safe and sound.

Wrapped tightly in your arms.

It is quiet all around.

Nothing better can be found.

Feeling your fingers feather soft upon me.

I’m as happy as a clown.

Snuggling close and hearing your heart beat.

Feeling the warmth of your love.

Squeezing you when you say things sweet.

Just laying back and loving you

is the sweetest thing I know.

Knowing that your love is true.

Simple things that make a heart fly.

Little things that you do.

All these things can make me high.

I say over and over that I love you.

You say that you love me more.

There is little more that I can do.

The greatest thing I know of

is spending time with you.

Just soaking up all your love.

Will this last? I couldn’t say.

I am lost as soon as you’re around.

Let it continue day after day.——————–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

The Answer To Stress

      The Answer To Stress

I can’t handle anymore stress at the job.

Some say that sounds a little odd.

Why is that, I heard myself say?

Stress isn’t uncommon at job or play.

You are a Christian. Give it to God.

I have tried. Does that sound odd?

It is affecting my health and life.

I am having trouble handling the strife.

Is your faith in God getting less?

Trust in Him and He will bless.

He will open other doors.

From heaven the blessings will pour.

When you think you’re down and out.

He’ll be there to pull you out.

Trouble & strife will make us stronger.

Keep faith in Him a little longer.

We will learn through it all.

There is nothing that may befall

that can separate us from His love.

Love that comes from God above.

You are His precious child.

He will protect you all the while.

As the storm rages all around us.

His love is there to surround us.

If we are faithful & not lose trust,

He will give the best to us.

We will soar like eagles on high.

Way up in a cloudless sky.

Nothing will bother us or bring us down.

Never a need to wear a frown.

Each and every day keep Him near.

With His shoulder to lean on, there is no fear.

Why Life Isn’t Fair

      Why Life Isn’t Fair.

Have you heard the statement  that life isn’t fair.

When it comes to hard knocks, we’ve all had our share.

Nothing ever seems to go right.

There is never an end in sight.

Have you ever wondered why?

Why life can often lead you to cry?

Didn’t you know there is a war going on.

It will be going on after were gone.

It is the war between good and evil.

We can’t escape it wherever we go.

The war between Christ and Satan.

Earth is the battleground where it was taken.

It started in heaven long ago.

Satan was cast out to earth, you know.

All that has happened here since.

Is a result of Satan’s pretence.

That God rules with an iron hand.

No free will if you’re in His band.

Humans are only a pawn in this game.

Let’s make that real plain.

We have freedom of will.

We can choose to love or kill.

Choose God and you will love.

Choose Satan and you’ll kill the dove.

There is no sitting on the fence.

Refusing to choose is no defense.

This battle will not last forever.

Probation closes for all, no matter how clever.

The Lord will come in all His glory.

With the host of heaven; so goes the story.

Satan will be cast into a bottomless pit.

That will put an end to it.

Till he and all his followers are judged.

Then cast into a lake of fire like thugs.

They will burn till totally consumed.

Leaving nothing to be exhumed.

The answer to who is right in this terrible war.

Will be answered here on earth, and more.

So bad will things end up that none will doubt.

That God is just, and love is what He is about.

Satan will lose in the end.

I hope you are not his friend.——————R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Turned Around By God

      Turned Around By God

I heard a rustling in the dirty alley.

Then I heard a desperate groan.

I decided to look, knowing this was folly.

The Lord impressed me to check out the moan.

There in the filth, urine, and waste

lye a long haired ‘hippy type’ in tattered clothes.

He smelled strong of alcohol & body waste.

The smell of a hash pipe hit my nose.

I knelt down and he looked around.

His pupils were pin point, though in the shade.

I knew more than alcohol & mj.  could be found.

He  smelled like hammered pig poop in a glade.

You look like life has kicked you around some.

You look about as low as you can go.

You look like you’re ready for the ground, son.

You don’t see anywhere else to go.

Let me say there is a new man in town.

He has the power to set you free.

Just sit up and look around.

This is not the life for you or me.

His name is Jesus and He is your friend.

You say what would He want with you?

There are many others who are where you’ve been.

Through you, Jesus can set them free too.

Let me help you to go where there is help.

Later, after a bath , shave, haircut, & clothes.

The young man looked like a fine young whelp

He thanked me and as he rose

I said dinner is very soon. Stay and have a bite.

He did & he ate like there was no tomorrow.

We prayed over the meal & he didn’t feel right.

I said Jesus can take away all pain and sorrow.

He wanted to know how that could be?

During a Bible study, I learned he was Carl.

Many answers were given to him, you see.

Soon, he was moved by the Holy Spirit.

He realized he really could be free.

He gave his heart to God. Let’s hear it.

Praise the Lord!! He now had a job to do.

He went back to the alleys & byways of the city.

He preached to others. He was like them too.

Now he was free. No more sorrow or pity.

By the power of Christ, he converted many.

His joy in life was seeing others saved.

Believe me, his reward will be plenty.

His greatest love was Jesus, he raved.

In The Nick Of Time

      In The Nick Of Time

I remember the day he saved my life.

It was filled with heartache and strife.

I was truly thinking of checking out.

I picked a time when no one was about.

Then, there was a knock on the door.

It was a coleporter selling books & more.

He talked about how the Bible gave us hope.

About how we can get help to cope.

What he said made sense to me.

I asked the man to pray with me.

He did & I felt a weight being lifted off.

I know all of this made the Devil wroth.

I bought a book called “Steps To Christ.”

I read it and it changed my life.

I knelt & gave it all to the Lord.

Life was exciting. No longer bored.

I called the coleporter & bought more books.

I read them all. I also read the Bible book.

I was changed. I was alive.

I told others about it. I didn’t hide.

I went to church . I made new friends.

I talk to everyone that God sends.

Many have followed my example.

My testimony, I guess, was ample.

Things are great. Things are good.

I put God first, just like I should.

Occasionally, trouble still comes my way.

I pray to God and it all goes away.

I’ll take this life over what I had before.

With God in my life I have so much more..

I have that coleporter to thank.

He is the best. On that you can bank.

He saved me from checking out.

But, really, it was God, without a doubt.—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

She Didn’t Know My Age

      She Didn’t Know My Age

I saw you watching me from across the room.

I don’t know you but, I feel that will change soon.

You look so young. But, then, I can’t judge age.

I just hope we will be on the same page.

Then I think. You don’t know how old I am.

Should I lie about my age or be a man.

Wait!!—–Your starting to walk my way.

Is there something that I should say?

I run through a number of opening lines.

None seem appropriate for this place & time.

Before I can speak you say: “Hi, I’m Sue.”

I’m glad I didn’t speak first & sound like a fool.

I said “Hi Sue”, and I told her my name.

She said “You look like a guy named Wayne.”

“Don’t know him.”, I said with a smile.

“No problem.” She said. “It’s been awhile.”

I said “New place and new times.”

She said “You bet. And it feels fine.”

We started talking over a drink or two.

She liked a lot of things that I did too.

I asked what she was doing here?

She said “Sitting with you having a beer.”

I asked her if she lived here in town.

“You know I do.” She said with a frown.

Concerned, I said “Before this goes too far,

I want to know how young you are?”

“I am young enough to be your daughter.”

“Do you think I look like your father?”

“No. Does the age difference bother you?”

“Only if I look or feel like a fool.”

To this she gave the nicest laugh.

“Don’t worry. I’ll try not to call you pap.”

I laughed too and the night went on.

After awhile we noticed most others were gone.

I asked her if she had a car.

“I didn’t walk here. It’s too far.”

I said I was close. Did she want to follow me home?

“I can do that. It’s better than being alone.”

Later on at my small but, comfortable apartment.

We sat and talked more as my heart went

into double time as she drew close to me.

I said “Just a minute. I have to pee.”

In the bathroom I thought .She doesn’t know my age.

It sounds like we are on the same page.

But, she just doesn’t know my real age.

I returned and said “I have something to say.”

I told her my real age. Thought she would say “No way.”

Instead, she just melted in my arms.

As secure as a calf on the farm.

I haven’t felt this way in years and years.

It was enough to bring me to tears.

I never thought of her as a daughter.

She never said I was her father.

But, we slept all night in each others arms.

Both afraid to move. We both felt safe from harm.

“This will last as long as I am alive.”

She says “Don’t mention it. We have arrived.”

I agreed as I drank tea with honey from sage.

I thought to myself. She didn’t even know my age.

Limited Options

Limited Options

The blood.

The pain.

The horrible memories

Flashing through my brain.

My mind’s eye

Sees them all again;

Like a nightmare

Filled with wicked sin.

I tremble in fear.

I scream, I cry.

I cannot escape,

Though I may try.

The scars upon my body.

The scars within my mind.

Have returned again to haunt me

From a past long left behind.

A childhood forgotten.

Experiences long denied.

Now, suddenly remembered

Have left me terrified.

I huddle in a corner.

I hide within my bed.

But, I can’t escape these demons

That keep screaming in my head.

This Clockwork Orange experience

That disrupts my normal day.

Is driving me to suicide.

Is there another way?

I cry for help.

But, no one hears.

I run and hide

To escape my fears.

Curse my father.

Curse my mother too.

They’re  the ones responsible

For what I’m going to do.

I’m going where pain can’t hurt me.

Where fears no longer rule.

If there’s a God in heaven

I’m coming now to you.————————-R.W. Johnson—– (1988)

A Knight’s Tale

    A Knight’s Tale

A long, long time ago.

Or, so I’ve been told.

In days of old.

When knights were bold.

There lived a serf named ‘Pantsedalot.’

I’ll tell you how that name he got.

It was because he was pantsed a lot.

Sometimes he would pants himself.

As he ran around trying to help.

Down his pants would fall.

Then he would begin to bawl.

One day at a jousting match.

The serf was serving the days catch.

Fresh fish cooked just right.

Served to nobles as they watched the fight.

Someone ‘pantsed’ him as he went by.

As he fell the fish did fly.

Right into the kings lap.

There it landed with a smack.

The king was madder than hell.

He looked over from where it fell.

There was the serf tangled in his pants.

The king flew into one of his rants.

“Grab that serf and bring him here!!”

The serf turned white & trembled with fear.

“For doing such a graceful thing

I will make you a knight” said the king.

He raised his sword and touched the surf’s shoulders.

He said “I name thee ‘Sir Pantsedalot’,  The Bolder.”

Everyone roared with laughter and mirth.

The poor serf felt lower than dirt.

Now that he was a knight he was expected to fight.

He didn’t even know how to fly a kite.

He felt for sure his days were numbered.

About the results of this everyone wondered.

The serf was given armor , a shield, and a sword.

The king said ‘Great will be your reward.”

“Should you defeat ‘the Black knight’ today.

To you, I will give my daughter away.”

The serf secretly had a crush on her for years.

Everyone watching was giving him cheers.

Everyone watched as the battle started.

The Black Knight was acting half hearted.

They circled each other for awhile.

The serf made a couple of swings with no style.

The Black Knight just laughed at him.

He said “It is time for this charade to end.”

He took a mighty swing at the ‘new’ knight.

The serf jumped back with all his might.

The Black knight charged forward fast.

Then he tripped on the serf’s fallen armored ass.

the serf’s armor pants had slipped to the ground.

This saving his life as he looked around.

He jumped up and put his sword on the neck

of The Black Knight, who froze, his crotch wet.

“Surrender or die” yelled the serf.

The Black knight surrendered all to the serf.

The king was shocked and his daughter was happy.

The marriage took place and the people were happy.

So goes the story of ‘Sir Pantsedalot.’

The bravest knight who ever fought.
