The Magician’s War (Chapter 3)

    The Magician’s War (Chapter 3)

The Great Deceiver was named so

because of her ability to deceive the soul.

Her alone, had this great ability.

Her enemy would lose their agility.

Lose their ability to do magic, totally.

Magic was no longer in their soul, you see.

Her wand would change to a lance.

One of incredible power at a glance.

Once thrown, it would return on its own.

After it had destroyed to the bone.

Anika had a healing stone.

That would heal most wounds on its own.

Pass it over the injured part.

Healing came instantly, calming the heart.

No one knew how it heeled.

It eliminated pain with the feel.

An ancient power passed down .

Anika was given it for where she was bound.

Her wand delivered to her the message.

One from the Deceiver, builder. It was messy.

How to know where to enter and exit.

Each level of Hell was  different to exit.

Many, many entrances and exits leading to

a multitude of parallel universes. Not a few.

Easy to lose your way. A special code

Would help her with this heavy load.

But, surviving along the way was hers alone.

She had to use her wisdom as shown.

She prepared to enter the first gate.

The panthers were to restless to wait.

The eagle was flying in circles.

They all knew what was her goals.

There were certain magical things

that could help. If she knew what to sing.

No one knew what was really in each level.

Anything from a poisonous bite to a raging devil.

She was ready to leave.

But, that’s another story. I won’t deceive.

The Magician’s War (Chapter 1)

         The Magician’s War (Chapter 1)

When I awoke, I couldn’t move.

A paralysis I couldn’t disprove.

Though I strained with all my might,

I was held down very tight.

I remembered the magician’s war.

We fought for our lives, and more.

Due to fatigue, I wasn’t doing well.

I was knocked unconscious by a spell.

I looked around. I was in a room.

The light was poor, almost a gloom.

I was captured and here I was sent.

I feared what that ending meant.

I tried with all my will to make a fist.

Very slowly, I succeeded at this.

I dug deep and put more into my effort.

I broke out of the spell. A mighty effort.

I sat up and looked around.

My wand was nearby, I found.

With effort, I was able to get to it.

Good thing I was physically fit.

The door flew open with a rush.

A magician ran in and he was flushed.

“No one has ever broken that spell before.”

“A first for everything,” out the door

I went with magically enhanced speed.

I didn’t say goodbye. There was no need.

I surprised them and fought my way out.

I knew exactly what magic was about.

I got my bearings and zapped myself home.

The war still raged, but I wasn’t alone.

Many of us had gathered there.

We knew we needed safety somewhere.

We had a plan that was a great risk.

Our best minds had come up with this.

We made a pledge and raised a fist.

They had already made a list.

We would pass through 7 parallel universes.

Altering each with many traps and curses.

For any, magic or not, to make it through

would be impossible for them to do.

The 8th universe would be ours.

We would be safe. Bless the stars.

It was dangerous to be sure.

It could fail, but we did concur.

We would leave as soon as possible.

The secret of this would be our gospel.

Each world was laden with beasts of all types.

Created with magic with all its hypes.

Terrible weather on different worlds.

Unimaginable hardships, we did herald.

It was mind boggling, to say the least.

We felt safe when done and had a feast.

The evil magicians never knew where we went.

Their every effort to find us was spent.

We were safe for over 800 years.

What happened then is another story, I fear.

Mind Of A Kid

        Mind Of A Kid

It is the end,—- I can see.

Someone is closing in on me.

There is no place left to hide.

There is no way to stem the tide.

I’ve begged, cried, and carried on.

Nothing can detour my mom.

I am trapped in this dream.

I can’t awaken, so it seems.

What a nightmare, often repeating.

It seems, there is no more retreating.

I could face it, but I don’t have the nerve.

Life has thrown me a vicious curve.

This is it.—The end at last.

She says: “Come on Timmy, it’s time for your bath.”

Unlimited Power

             Unlimited Power

The kid had incredible brain power.

He became more powerful every hour.

Soon, he was creating matter.

People began to fear and  scatter.

He would think of it and it would appear.

Such power caused a lot of fear.

He would disappear and reappear again.

If they doubted, he would do it again.

He slipped a couple minutes forward in time.

Move, then return to this time.

To those watching, he would disappear.

Then, in another spot, reappear.

He could fly by the power of his mind.

Transfer great distances in a flick of time.

He could read anyone’s mind.

Control them and keep them in line.

He could look in the sky, predict the rain.

Yet, through it all, he was not vain.

He could heal the sick, raise the dead.

Make the girls talk out of their heads.

People feared him, some tried to kill him.

They should have known they couldn’t win.

He became invisible in a twinkle.

He never aged nor got a wrinkle.

He could turn water into wine.

Mostly, he did only what was fine.

Nothing was beyond him to do.

Peace on earth became his rule.

He solved problems for the scientists.

His mother would give him a giant kiss.

Diseases were eliminated.

Old age was decimated.

It was like Shangri-La here.

No crime or killing. No more fear.

Then the day came when he was gone.

He said we knew enough to get along.

We could do it on our own, you see.

He had somewhere he needed to be.

No one heard of nor saw him again.

Let’s hope this is the beginning, not the end.

The Earthquake

               The Earthquake

I felt the earth move under my feet.

I could barely stand up on the street.

Frightened and big eyed, I looked around.

Trees were swaying, buildings falling down.

I took off and ran for the grass.

The shaking knocked me on my ass.

I was sitting in the middle of a lawn.

Everything around was almost gone.

I heard yelling and crying from the mess.

Someone trapped within, was my guess.

Myself, and several others were safe.

We started helping others to escape.

That day, I was just out for a walk.

I was thinking of heading for the dock.

Next thing I know, all is gone.

I see a doe running with its fawn.

I start digging through some rubble.

I heard a female voice in trouble.

Soon, I tunneled my way into her.

A beautiful girl, alive for sure.

Her leg was wedged under a bookcase.

I lifted it up slowly, just in case.

Luckily, her leg wasn’t broken.

Only bruised, a lucky token.

I said “Anyone else trapped in here?”

“No, I live alone.” She said in fear.

“At least, I did live here. No more now.”

“I think I lost my home too, somehow.”

“You mean you don’t know yet?”

My home was gone too, was a safe bet.

“I live a few blocks from here.”

“I was out for a walk.” “ I am pretty near.”

“Then, let’s go see if your house is there.”

“You don’t have to go anywhere.”

“I am still in shock. This house is bare.”

“I will help you. Is anybody there?”

“No, I live alone too.” I said.

“Oh, I thought maybe you were wed.”

“Not yet. Haven’t met the right one.”

So, off we went to see what was done.

On the way, I learned her name.

I told her mine. Close to the same.

My house had minimal damaged.

I told her that I could manage.

She insisted on helping me clean up.

I didn’t have a lot of stuff.

It took all day. Then, I took her to dinner.

It had to be fast food, but, it was a winner.

She had no where to stay. I had a spare room.

WE moved her stuff there real soon.

Within the month we both knew.

She wasn’t moving out. Didn’t want to.

I have found who I was searching for.

An earthquake brought her to my door.

From the disaster came a new life.

Phoenix is what we named our first child.

From the ashes rose new life, running wild.

Any way you look at this we win.

Enough love to carry us to the end.

Wasted Time

                  Wasted Time

All the wasted time along the way.

Think about how you spend your day.

Often wasted, hung out to dry.

Stoned, inebriated, wondering why?

Your time here is limited, for sure.

Put health first. Keep things pure.

This may give you a few more years.

What’s the use? You say through tears.

What good are a few extra years?

Make use of the wasted time. Don’t fear.

You could be building a great career.

Better yet, if religious minded at all,

prepare the way for the heavenly call.

Be welcomed into those pearly gates.

Do all you can before it is too late.

If it’s not your bag, just be a better man.

Why should you do all you can?

It will make life better for those around .

Thinking of others pays off, I have found.

Whatever way you would choose to go.

It is better than wasted time, you know.

If wasted time is kept to a minimal,

there are no regrets when you go.

The Mastery Of Life

             The Mastery Of Life

The mastery of life never comes easy.

If it was, you would never leave me.

But, you did and my emotions died.

I felt so bad, I couldn’t cry if I tried.

I remember back to the candy store.

I always saw you going in the door.

She must love candy, I thought to myself.

Yet, you’re slim, the body of an elf.

Finally, I followed you in the store.

I found out what you were there for.

You worked there. I should have known.

By then, my fantasies. were full blown.

I came to get candy every day.

Enough so, that I heard you say:

“Are you a candy junkie?”

“No, or I would be a chunky monkey.”

“I come in just to see you.”

You were shocked through and through.

“Are you kidding me?”, you said.

“If not true, I’d rather be dead.”

Somehow, we ended up on a date.

For a long time things went great.

Things were to a commitment stage.

Then, we turned to the next page.

You went your way and I went mine.

It wasn’t until some other time.

You were gone for good, somehow.

I am not understanding, even now.

The mastery of life is beyond my grasp.

Like the gold ring I miss, going by too fast.

The lessons of life never come easy.

No one ever said they were easy peasy.

The parade is going by, but I’m on the side.

All I have to show is a little pride.

In the school of hard knocks I’m head of class.

I need to graduate. I don’t want to be brash.

Maggie May, Part II

                  Maggie May, Part II

Oh, Maggie, I finally got on back to school.

But, I still had to keep coming home to you.

I am at school while you are at work.

When home, first thing, you rip off my shirt.

Time away makes you horny. What a quirk.

I always secretly hoped we could make this work.

For sexual desire, you’re second to none.

But, you never want to go out just for fun.

Maggie May, I finally got back in school.

But, I can’t seem to get away from you.

You pull me in with your sexual ways.

We don’t save it for the rainy days.

Your sexual drive never runs low.

Though you’re older, you’re ready to go.

It takes all I have to keep up with you.

Cougars are powerful. I may be a fool.

Maggie, this may sound a little odd to you.

But, life has more to offer than sex and school.

It seems you are only interested in the one thing.

I would like to find out what else life can bring.

Other guys say I’m the luckiest man alive.

Finding a woman with your sex drive.

They don’t know what I really want to do,

is to be brave enough to walk out on you.

Maggie May, I finally got  back in school.

But, I can’t seem to get away from you.

You pull me in with your sexual ways.

We don’t save it for the rainy days.

Your sexual drive never runs low.

Though, you’re older, you’re ready to go.

It takes all I have to keep up with you.

Cougars are powerful. I may be a fool.

Into Something Good

       Into Something Good

She was flirting a lot with me.

Maybe she thought that I didn’t see.

She made her actions more obvious yet.

Wanted to make sure I didn’t forget.

Finally, I walked over to her table.

I started talking with her as I was able.

I was always pretty shy.

It may surprise you for a guy such as I.

I was tall, muscular, and quite handsome.

Or, so I have been told by female ones.

We hit it off fairly smoothly.

I didn’t mind. I wasn’t choosy.

After a few drinks, we decided to leave.

Go where there is live music, you see.

We danced up a storm for several hours.

Time went by fast. The night was ours.

Before long, it was time to say goodnight.

We both agreed our time was out of sight.

We decided to try it again real soon.

On the drive home, I wanted to swoon.

I was a good boy, like I should.

Still, it seems, I am into something good.

No Paint For This House

       No Paint For This House

One spring day we painted our home.

It took a few days to get it done.

3 of us were working. I wasn’t alone.

It went fast so was sort of fun.

A pretty blue with dark blue trim.

We were all happy after the last coat.

The next day it was like it had never been.

No new paint from pillar to post.

It looked like we had never painted it.

What the hell happened to the paint?

I was so shocked, I could have a fit.

My wife felt weak, about to faint.

We called a ghost hunter for help.

He came over to take a look.

He knew exactly how we felt.

We showed him pictures that we took.

I looked at the ground where he knelt.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before.”

He was as mystified as we were.

“Can I call a friend of mine? He knows lore.”

“Maybe he will know what did occur.”

We said yes, and soon he arrived.

We showed and told him all we knew.

He turned white and almost cried.

“I think I know what happened to you.”

He started to say, then fell to the ground.

He was dead, right on the spot.

The ambulance soon came around.

A heart attack or stroke were their thoughts.

That didn’t explain enough for us.

We saw the marks on his throat.

They disappeared before we could cuss.

Something made sure he couldn’t gloat.

We never tried to paint the house again.

We sold it, as is, just as fast as we could.

Never told the story. Didn’t know how to begin.

We knew the siding was wormwood.

What this meant, we weren’t sure.

We were glad to be away from there.

Why or how it did occur,

remains a mystery we haven’t wanted to share.
