The Truth About Cheese

The Truth About Cheese

“What do you mean?,”
Said the cheese to the spread.
“It is what I’ve seen.”
“Don’t let it go to your head.”

“I won’t” the cheese said.
“Yet, I still do not see.”
“What I mean” said spread.
“Is cheese can bind you up, see?”

“I would never do such a thing.”
“Can they ‘poop’ when done?”
“Think of all the joy cheese can bring.”
“I was thinking of another type of fun.”

“Look spread, get your facts straight.”
“That is how it was told to me.”
“Someone was jiving you to take the bait.”
‘Why would pizza mess with me?”

“Pizza? He causes nightmares you know.”
“He said you made up most of him.”
“He is no better than a ‘Sloppy’ Joe.”
“Me being blamed for him is slim.”

“He is the one that can be binding.”
“I just go along for the ride.”
“He can set one’s stomach grinding.”
“I ought to rip him a new hide.”

“Sorry, I guess I got it all wrong.”
“It’s o.k. spread, now you know the truth.”
“I will now sing a new song.”
“No, no spread. Pizza may raise the roof.”

“I must go with him to keep him good.”
“He would be in real trouble without me.”
“Cheese keeps him tasting like he should.”
“Without me, he is nothing, you see.”

Twilight Friendship

Twilight Friendship

I always stayed in the twilight.
Never trusting anyone.
It seems odd, but it was my life.
I knew I was not the only one.

Never close with anyone.
I saw others who were the same.
Life was never too much fun.
Others didn’t know my name.

Then it happened before I knew it.
I saw you running from another.
He yelled “I’ll kill you, you bitch.”
His voice made me shudder.

I waved you to a place only I knew.
He was cursing as he ran by.
I didn’t say “What did you do?”
She wouldn’t want me to pry.

When he didn’t return you said “Thanks.”
“Your safe now.” I said with assurance.
“He didn’t mean it. He is just a crank.”
“He sounded mad about some occurrence.”

“I had to steal some food from him.”
“If you’re hungry, I have some food,”
“I wouldn’t intrude. It’s different with him.”
“I live alone. You won’t intrude.”

She shyly agreed to come for a bite.
She said she is normally all alone.
“I only come out at night.”
“I am also a person who is alone.’

She didn’t say much about herself.
I didn’t pry. It wasn’t like me.
She did say she seldom accepts help.
She didn’t trust others, as I could see.

I said we were a lot alike.
“I almost never am with anyone.”
“I am a creature of the twilight.”
“It was because I didn’t trust any one.”

She said “Why are you helping me?”
I said that I couldn’t answer that.
“It seemed right at the time, you see.”
She said “I can relate to that.”

I still see her from time to time.
Always at twilight, when all is dark.
It was her choice as much as mine.
It seems a friendship was about to start.

This is new for each down to our core.
It is developing at its own pace.
We are trusting each other more.
We may soon get our own place.

I just assume it was meant to be.
There is no way to explain it.
Now, we both feel much more free.
It is well worth it to maintain it.

Running Scared

Running Scared

It is a big world out there.
Are they coming for me?
They will look everywhere.
I must hide to remain free.

Some say it is in my head.
No one is coming for me.
I would rather run instead.
This is how it’s got to be.

They have tried before.
I had barely gotten away.
They busted in the door.
They weren’t there to play.

I managed to slip through a crack.
They were searching high & low.
The strain almost broke my back.
This part they will never know.

What I know, they want to hush.
Though I have never told a sole.
They just keep coming in a rush.
They are afraid of what I know.

I never stay in one place long.
I know they will never stop.
So, I just keep moving along.
Trust no one. Not even a cop.

This can get old very fast.
I feel like “The Fugitive.”
Hiding, to save my ass.
You never know who it is.

Perhaps I can use what I know.
Use it to save my life somehow.
If only I knew which way to go.
I need a friend with me now.

I have recorded it all today.
If they get me, others will know.
I have carefully hidden it away.
Upon my death, others will go.

They will know where to look.
They will hear the whole story.
Maybe one will write a book.
Telling all, no matter how gory.

Bring them all to their knees.
Something I can’t do on my own.
I can’t see the forest for the trees.
Others can do it, once shown.

There is little hope for me.
I realize that fact now.
But, others will be able to see.
Then, put an end to it, somehow.

High Hopes

High Hopes

It feels like lightening running through my veins.
Every time you look at me that way, it’s the same.
It could be magic or animal attraction for me.
Whatever it is, I like it, whatever it seems to be.
I don’t know if you are aware of all of this.
Of how you send me into a passion of bliss.
I only pray I am doing the same to you.
If it is no, it could break my heart in two.
But, every indication says the answer is yes.
You have set me apart from all the rest.
I have the feeling I’m into something good.
For once, my love life may turn out like it should.
The little things mean so much to me.
They make me happy and make me free.
I want to soar, like a kite in a strong wind.
I know, inside, you are much more than a friend.
Where this is going, I have no idea.
I am in for the ride & want to still see ya.
If it works out we will both be in 7th heaven.
One complimenting the other like yeast & leaven.
What better way to spend our day,
than doing everything our way.
As the wind whistles through the trees,
so my thoughts are saying please.
Please let this be what I am hoping for.
Then, we will be together forever more.

Past References

Past References

I have this feeling that this is wrong.
Long, I’ve waited for you to come along.
When you arrived I was filled with delight.
I said “Thank you God”, with all my might.

Yet, there’s something I have to know?
I am not sure where this is going to go.
True, I prayed for an answer to my dreams.
You appeared to be the one, or so it seemed.

Still, certain things don’t seem to be just right.
Many times you seemed to be ready to fight.
Your defenses were set on high most of the time.
No need for that if you are really mine.

You came with scars and baggage too.
There was a lot that you’ve been through.
So much so it predicts how you are.
You are reacting to the emotional scars.

It is a new game now. Things have changed.
“Different place, different time,” I explain.
Don’t let your past rule your feelings for me.
We have a totally new thing going, you see.

We should set our own path now.
Together we can do it somehow.
The two of us can be as one.
The trip will be, oh so fun.

Then my dreams & prayers can come true.
Not only for me, but also for you.
Forget the past. This won’t be the same.
There is nothing to lose & so much to gain.

Conscience Talking

Conscience Talking

Wherever you go, I will know.
No one steals away my show.
I will always be right behind.
Never try to run. I am not blind.

I will always follow where you go.
A lot of things keep me in the know.
I’m not a stalker and not a leach.
Listen to exactly what I preach.

I can keep you from all wrong.
Look around, but I won’t be gone.
I am always there to guide.
To prompt, push and confide.

You can never run away from you.
It makes no difference what you do.
I am your conscience. Your inner soul.
To follow me should be your goal.

Without a conscience you’re a lost soul.
I’m always there to help you know.
I will guide you down the right path.
Without me you lose. Do the math.

Time Slipping Away

Time Slipping Away

It seems like time kept slipping away.
He decided to change things one day.
After 2 years of research he had it.
A single pill to make him fit.
He popped the pill & time slowed down.
He looked around with a frown.
All seemed normal all around him.
The clock has stopped, he said with a grin.
Then, VERY slowly. The door opened.
His lab assistant was approaching.
It took him 5 minutes to go 10 feet.
It was weird, but pretty neat.
The assistant couldn’t see him move.
He was much too fast to behoove.
To him, the assistant was VERY slow.
He had actually speeded up, you know.
Then, he realized, time wasn’t slipping by.
It was flying by. He started to cry.
This wasn’t the result he was hoping for.
He hoped the change wasn’t for good.
He wanted to slow down, if he could.
Eventually, the effects wore off.
He looked around, with a cough.
He didn’t care about time slipping away.
He decided he kind of liked it this way.
The lesson learned here was very clear.
Don’t rush it. Just kick back and have a beer.

The Fastest Gun Always Won

The Fastest Gun Always Won

Long ago, in the cowboy days,
a fast draw was just a blaze.
If you could draw and fire first,
You would find that you are cursed.

Everyone would be looking for you.
They wanted to be the fastest too.
The way it’s done is to outdraw you.
But, this would mean you’re dead too.

A young lad that I heard of then.
He was so fast, let me tell you friend.
You could not see his draw.
He never missed. He could split a straw.

But, this young lad was very smart.
He wore no gun from the start.
He didn’t want anyone to know.
He was the fastest of any show.

He didn’t want that type of reputation.
To be known as the fastest in the nation
was not his bag of tea.
It was all very simple, you see.

He practiced till he was the best.
His parents were killed by a guest.
Someone they invited into their home.
He was a killer, it was later known.

The lad saw him and knew him by sight.
That’s why he practiced day and night.
Then, he heard the killer was in town.
So, that’s exactly where he was bound.

Before he got there, there was a fight.
The killer was killed in a gunfight.
He realized he could end up just like him.
He decided to put up his guns then.

So, the fastest gun in the West
Will never be known as the best.
At least till he was elected sheriff.
Then, he had to shoot and bare it.

Seldom did someone even try.
They found his speed wasn’t a lie.
Gun in his hand before they cleared leather.
They went to jail for being so cleaver.

In time, gunfights became a thing of the past.
The sheriff was never laid under the grass.
His reputation, be what it may,
became the stories of another day.

Unusual Bigfoot Sighting

Unusual Bigfoot Sighting

We heard the stories of sightings.
We wanted to do the right things.
Bigfoot has been seen in many places.
Where his foot print is, there his face is.

We set out with all our supplies.
The beautiful Northwest before our eyes.
Somewhere out there Bigfoot was seen.
We just hoped he wasn’t mean.

Two weeks later and no luck yet.
What would we do if we met?
We did find some Bigfoot tracks.
We searched high & low for the facts.

Then, our persistence paid off.
We saw Bigfoot & he was wroth.
He took off with us on his trail.
It was hard, but we kept on his tail.

Then, we saw him standing in a meadow.
What he was up to, we still didn’t know.
Then, we saw a UFO coming down.
It settled by Bigfoot, on the ground.

Bigfoot walked over and got on board.
The hatch closed & we were abhorred.
The UFO lifted from the site.
In no time, it was out of sight.

We lucked out & got it all on film.
Close ups & all, from our drone.
Will he be coming back soon?
We can hope. It was only noon.

Get To The Point

Get To The Point

Enough of the small talk.
It is time to get down to basics.
I don’t want to hear you squawk.
Let’s not make this like a matrix.

Time to get down to the brass tacks.
No more beating around the bush.
No more waiting for it to pass.
Time to get up off your tush.

No more stalling and excuses.
Time to get to the heart of things.
Follow the path to where the moose is.
Face the music, like you had wings.

Time to get down and bite the bullet.
It is time to get to the point.
No more acting like you already know it.
Don’t get pushed all out of joint.

Put your money where your mouth is.
Time to pay the piper, so to speak.
No time out to take a wiz.
Stand tall and quit feeling weak.

We have faced it 100 times before.
We must be strong & face it again.
Don’t try sneaking out the door.
Are you a wimp or a real friend.

Time to get down and dirty.
Time to get down to the nitty gritty.
No more ducking out like a dirty birdy.
The end result may not be pretty.

Time to take one and wrap it up.
Time to put an end to it all.
What do you mean I should shut up?
It is time you fess up to what you saw.
