Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

      Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

I walked by the mirror & glanced at it.

I snapped around and looked again.

I just stood there looking for a bit.

I turned around, not believing it then.

I looked the same as ever.

But, the background had changed.

It wasn’t my bedroom. Very clever.

It seems castle walls had been arranged.

I knew it had to be somehow a joke.

I went to the bathroom mirror.

I looked at it and what a jolt.

It was the same, that was clear.

I went running out of the place.

Picked up my girl and brought her back.

I told her about it to her face.

“I was warned you were crazy, but that?”

“Your family was cursed, so were you.”

“I’ll check out the mirrors for the fact.”

She looked in both mirrors & it was true.

She was shocked, but suspected a trick.

We checked behind the mirrors.

Nothing there. We just didn’t get it.

She was so shaken she was almost in tears.

Then, I put my hand on one of them.

My hand went right into the mirror.

I pulled it out quickly, like it was sin.

I said, “ It felt cold and queer.”

We realized we could go right in .

We feared to do so. Could we get out?

What if it trapped us within?

Would it do us any good to shout?

We covered the mirrors & disposed of them.

We dumped them at the city dump.

They were never mentioned again.

There was one mirror left in a trunk.

Out of sight, out of mind, ——until????

Everlasting Love

      Everlasting Love

There was a time when fairies danced.

A time when Pixies had romance.

A time when unicorns ran free.

A time before there was you and me.

A time when magic was used to rule.

A time when dragons were really cool.

A time of wizards and dungeons.

A time of elves and munchkins.

A time of centaurs and dwarfs.

A time of mermaids and banshees, of course.

A magical world of witches and spells.

A time when, under bridges, trolls dwelled.

But, this time has come and gone.

Now called fiction & fantasy, along

with stories of knights in shining armor.

That time didn’t last for eternity.

Like the love you have for me.

We have the magic of love .

The blessings from God above.

Let our time go down in history.

Let it be known, it wasn’t a fantasy.

It was real and goes on and on.

Even though we may, eventually, be gone.

We will exist for eternity.

You, me, and God makes three.—-R. W. Johnson—–(2015)

A Lost Pixie Finds Home

      A Lost Pixie Finds Home

She awoke thinking about  this.

He’s been gone long enough to miss.

There was a whisper of light.

A rare thing since it was night.

The moon was full, time to collect.

She never left this to neglect.

She was alone in the down under.

She could still hear rain and thunder.

Tonight, though, it was warm pleasure.

Time to look for more treasure.

She arose, washed her face, hands, & feet.

She didn’t look for food to eat.

She got her box with light within.

Off she went, her face had a grin.

She is Auril, a pixie. Named by him.

She didn’t have a name till then.

No memory of her past exists.

All her knowledge is just this.

She didn’t know she was a pixie.

Though, very small, this she could see.

She was like those above.

Like him, except he didn’t shove.

He rubbed against the world.

Yet, he accepted her and she was thrilled.

She only knew herself, no others.

This was her world. She knew no mother.

Silent things were her company.

They all impressed her. One could see.

She knew each thing had a special vibe.

She could read this far and wide.

She made her way out of down under.

Watchful not to attract like thunder.

She slipped off into the woods.

In search of food & what she could.

She went where she hadn’t been before.

A space in the trees,— like a door.

Moonlight guided her path.

Then, she heard a little laugh.

Quiet as moss growing on a rock,

she slipped up to the spot.

It was like she was drawn there.

There was laughter & singing in the air.

A pond with a waterfall at one end.

Fairies and pixies were swimming within.

Some were sitting on the shore.

Behind them were even more.

They were giving off vibes, bright.

Singing and playing in the moonlight.

She quietly slipped down among them.

All of them stopped and began to grin.

“Our lost sister has finally come home.”

Auril said “What?,” Then she was shown.

“Your mother & you were caught by men.

Long ago. We felt we wouldn’t see you again.”

“We felt your essence when we came back”

“But, we didn’t know where you were at.”

‘Every full moon, we would come, all of us.”

“Hoping you would be drawn here thus.

“So here you are, back at last, where you belong”

“It has been years since you have been gone.”

She told them she had no memory of her past.

They said her mother’s essence winked out fast.

They knew that she had died, or was killed.

Still, your essence, had not been fulfilled.

She told them how a man had named her.

How he came, at times, just to make sure

she was o.k. Otherwise, he left her to herself.

The fairies and pixies prayed for his health.

“Such a man is rare.” they said.

“He didn’t let it all go to his head”

So, ends the story of the lost pixie.

She made it home like it should be.

As an afterthought, she saw the man again.

She thanked him &. wished the best for him.

“If others treated fairies & pixies like that.”

She said,” it would be a different world. It’s a fact.”

Fantasy Love

      Fantasy Love

I’m hidden away in a secret place.

It is in my mind where there is no trace.

No trace that I have even visited.

No one gets in unless listed.

Currently, there is only me on that list.

This fortress of solitude exists.

It is only for me to use.

I escape all my stress and choose

to be by myself in solitude.

What is this? Something scratching at the door.

How did this happen? It’s never happened before.

It is you wanting to be let in.

My resistance is wearing thin.

If I let you in it could destroy me.

You could be the Kryptonite to my powers that be.

It is a gamble to my very existence.

To comply would be to drop all resistance.

Let you romp freely through my mind.

With no dead ends of any kind.

This would create a bond.

Stronger than any magic wand.

The two of us would be as one.

Provided you share with me some.

Open up your mind to me.

Let me wander and be free.

Maybe I will find the love there.

That, in my mind, is everywhere.

The love I have for you.

Do you have the same for me too?

I see it now.— It is there.

We are off to all we can bare.

To a land beyond the sea.

Beyond the stars, just you and me.

We will sail the river of hope.

Laughing and singing ,  I give you a poke.

Just a light tap in fun.

Then we will be on the run.

Jumping from one giant mushroom to another.

Just having fun. So much in love with each other.

Finally, we will return to the fortress of solitude.

A new one, not created for a multitude.

But, created for only you and I.

No one else can ever pry.

All I need is you and you alone.

You feel the same about me, you’ve shown.

There we will stay in ecstasy

Till we go again to the world created for only you and me.

Little Knight’s Girlfriend Has Dreams

      Little Knight’s Girlfriend Having Dreams

The little knight’s girlfriend wasn’t sleeping well.

She was having  nightmares now. She could tell.

The bed was a mess when she would awake.

She was drenched in sweat, make no mistake.

She thought back about one of the dreams.

She was dreaming on the little knight theme, it seems.

She was with the little knight’s former best friend.

She really didn’t want to be with him.

All she wanted was for the little knight to be assertive.

If he would win her back, it would be worth it.

She always wanted the little knight to be brave.

To fight for her, even to his grave.

She didn’t want him to be hurt or die.

She just wanted him to fight for her, or at least try.

Seems, he always was a little wimpy.

She wanted a man that was brave. It was meant to be.

Then, the little knight appeared.

He was so assertive, he projected fear.

He kicked his former best friend’s ass.

Then treated his girl with respect and class.

Till he inquired why she strayed from him.

The fear of the answer, she held within.

The little knight was becoming quite enraged.

She awoke then, and was really afraid.

Her and the little knight were together.

Yet, she feared he would leave & forget her.

Would she ever overcome this fear?

She knew the answer wasn’t clear.——————–R. W. Johnson—–(2015)

I’m Caught In A Trap

         I’m caught in a trap

I’ve never met anyone so opposite of me.

No matter what, you always disagree.

We met through mutual friends.

That’s how a thing like this begins.

Somehow, we end up being together.

If I say it’s canvas, you say it’s leather.

If I say it’s black, you don’t say it’s white.

You say ”It’s blue,  so don’t get uptight.”

I hope I don’t fall in love with you.

If so, I won’t know what to do?

They say opposites attract.

I am praying that’s not a fact.

If I fall in love with you

I can only end up being a fool.

How could anything be so cruel?

I just don’t know what to do.

I tried to arrange things to be safe.

That night came & things didn’t wait.

One person was sick with the flu.

So I ended up, again, with you.

No matter how I try we can’t stay apart.

It’s really starting to affect my heart.

It starts beating faster when I see you.

Due to inner stress, or something new?

I hope I don’t fall in love with you.

If so, I won’t know what to do?

They say opposites attract.

I am praying that’s not a fact.

If I fall in love with you

I can only end up being a fool.

How can anything be so cruel?

I just don’t know what to do.

I have to break the loop. This can’t go on.

I am in a tither from dusk till dawn.

We will never be lovers, please take the queue.

Quit acting like you haven’t the slightest clue.

Things got turned around & here we are again.

“We see you two together a lot” friends said with a grin.

“There may be something happening here.”

That’s it. I’m done. Give me another beer.———-R. W. Johnson—–(2015)

So Wrong, Yet Felt So Right

So Wrong, Yet Felt So Right.

Knowing that it is true

doesn’t always make it right.

That night I was close to you.

I was holding you real tight.

It was a night I will never forget.

I keep flashing back to that time.

It was too frightening —–I regret.

Yet, I knew, for awhile, you were mine.

It was storming and we were alone.

Trapped in a building with no escape.

A psychotic killer on the roam.

Letting him see us, was a mistake.

You belonged to another then.

How we ended up here is a long story.

It all happened,—– so why pretend?

At least it didn’t end up gory.

The killer was after us, without a doubt.

We witnessed what he did to that girl.

Then,—– you began to shout.

He faced us, his fist began to curl.

We ran like we never had before.

He was hot on our trail wanting our blood.

We hid in this building after breaking in the door.

He kicked the door in further with a thud.

We were hiding behind a bunch of boxes.

You were clinging to me very tight.

He went by & we snuck out like foxes.

Being careful to stay out of the light.

We ran & ran till we dropped.

Much too tired to go on.

The comfort of each other, we sought.

It still sticks in my mind—– like a song.

We found a pay phone and called the police.

They came quickly and took us to the station.

We told our story before our release.

First, we looked at mug shots, to try and place him.

Weeks later, the killer was caught.

We felt lucky to have gotten away that night.

Still,—– I have not forgot

what happened between us that felt so right.

It may be the truth, but it doesn’t make it right.

You belong to another and so it will be.

Just two ships passing in the night.

Yet, it will always be a special moment for me.–R. W. Johnson—–(2015)

Lesson At The Banyon Tree

The Lesson At The Banyan Tree

“Where will we play today” asked Panda Bear?

The Orangutan shook out his underwear.

“How about in the Banyan Tree?”

“I guess that would be fun for me.”

They set off through the forest.

They met a Monkey that looked like a florist.

He had a big armload of flowers.

He was hiding, like a coward.

“Don’t be afraid” said Panda Bear.

“We’re not going to give you a scare.”

“We’re headed for the Banyan Tree.”

“Would you like to come along and see?”

The Monkey tossed the flowers aside.

“I will come and be your guide.”

So, off they went as happy as could be.

They were in search of the Banyan Tree.

They came upon a babbling brook.

They got closer and took a look.

“How will we get across this raging river?”

Said the Monkey, with a quiver.

“This is just a small babbling brook.”

The Orangutan said, with a stern look.

“Right up there we can jump across.”

“Come here Monkey. I’ll give you a toss.”

On they went, deep into the forest.

It seemed to get darker along their course.

The Monkey was getting a little frightened.

The grip of Panda Bear, on his hand, tightened.

“Hey Monkey!,” “ I thought you knew the way?”

“I did but, things look a lot different today.”

On they went, till they came to a gigantic tree.

It had lots of trunks, you see.

“There it is,” yelled the Monkey with glee.

“I can’t wait to climb that tree.”

As they got near they heard a deep voice.

“What brings you to my tree of choice?”

They all jumped and looked around.

There was no one to be found.

“Look up here in the tree.”

“Now, do you see me?”

It was a huge vulture sitting on a limb.

He looked like the devil was his next of kin.

“We came to play in the Banyan Tree.”

Said Panda Bear, as nice as could be.

“Nobody plays in my tree without a gift.”

The vulture was sounding a little miffed.

“What kind of gift?” asked Orangutan?

“I usually like something dead.”

They all looked at him with dread.

“I was thinking more of love” said Panda Bear.

“Love? What is that? Something for my hair?”

“No, love, like from the ‘Father’ above.”

‘He made all nature and all we love.”

“He even made this Banyan Tree.”

“He even made you and me.”

“I have never heard of this ‘Father’.”

They all told him of the creator God and His love for us.

The vulture was moved. “Join me” he said, with no fuss.

Soon they were all playing in the Banyan Tree.

Sharing brotherly love .There’s a lesson here for you & me.

Share your knowledge of the savior with all you meet.

You may end up with a Banyan Tree treat.

Dragon Tears

  Dragon Tears

As life flows

through the years,

it can be bitter

like dragon tears.

It can be sweet,

like music to your ears.

It can be scary,

like your inner fears.

But, always remember.

As life’s end nears,

it was your life

through all those years.

You were the one

who made those tears.

As sweet as honey,

or—-dragon tears.————R. W. Johnson—–(1994)

Poet Goes Off Track

      Poet goes off track.

I’ve tried it once & I’ve tried it twice.

The camels have ‘hump day’. Is that nice?

Being hit can leave you black and blue.

I’m not drinking gas. I ain’t no fool.

If I could sing, people would gather around.

Have you ever heard of an ugly clown?

Mickey Mouse was once a rat.

How the heck does he do that?

I have a car that runs like a sewer.

It gurgles and burps. I wish it was newer.

It is cold. My lips are blue.

One flew over the cookoo’s  nest too.

Video games are full of violence and hate.

At least they aren’t playing Crazy Eights.

The power went off, then came back on.

I had a poem done, but now it’s gone.

I’ve gone off track. I am now on tilt.

I sure hope my flowers don’t wilt.

Everything is spinning around inside.

I couldn’t produce a poem if I tried.

ahhh,—- love and affection.

Do you see a human connection?

I am leaving it up to you.

I think I’m coming down with the flu.

Forget this poem writing, it’s late.

This doesn’t look good for my fate.———–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)
