High Flyer

      High Flyer

You shot me down & I fell from the light.

You thought I would fall from sight.

Gone—living in misery

without you near me.

But, I have risen , like the bird of flight,

the Phoenix. I have risen to a new height.

I am soaring among the clouds.

As high as a kite can fly.

My heart is crying out loud.

I can fly. I can fly. I can fly.

Since I met her I am high.

As high as a kit can fly.

I can fly. I can fly. I can fly.

She has your charms, but, not your gile.

She always greets me with a smile.

Be it lengthy or for only awhile.

For time with her, I’d walk a mile.

She has the charms of spring in bloom.

Her lovely eyes just make me swoon.

I am soaring among the clouds.

As high as a kite can fly.

My heart is crying out loud.

I can fly. I can fly. I can fly.

Since I met her I am high.

As high as a kite can fly.

I can fly. I can fly. I can fly.

Like a night bird in its flight.

She showed me how to fly at night.

She taught me how to fly in the day.

To her, it’s all a game to play.

But, she is serious when it comes to love.

That’s why I can soar high above.

I am soaring among the clouds.

As high as a kite can fly.

My heart is crying out loud.

I can fly. I can fly. I can fly.

Since I met her I am high.

As high as a kite can fly.

I can fly. I can fly. I can fly.———————R. W. Johnson—–(2012)

Angelic Visions

      Angelic Visions

Going down to the town.

Going just to look around.

A lot that’s old. Nothing new.

That’s till I got a look at you.

My heart pounded real fast.

My foot slipped off the gas.

I almost ran off the road.

My brain was twitching like a toad.

I pulled over to catch my breath.

You were the one. My mind was set.

I began to make great plans.

I would make you mine, if I can.

How to start, I wasn’t sure.

All I knew is you were the cure

for a heart doing cartwheels.

Only a lover knows how it feels.

I looked up and you were gone.

Where did you go? I can’t go on.

You must be close. I’ll look around.

Try as I might, you couldn’t be found.

Were you an angel that I saw?

Or my imagination having a ball?

I doubted then that you were real.

I had to stay on an even keel.

I had a drink & headed for home.

Guess I will remain all alone.——————-R. W. Johnson—–(2012)

Transformation

      Transformation

Here is the story of a foul little piglet boy.

When he acted dumb he thought it was coy.

He made noises and burped and farted.

He jumped around and acted retarded.

Other kids didn’t want him around.

Because he was always acting the clown.

This made him worse so he acted about 3.

Oh, what a great baby, was he.

He often got beat up for such behavior.

But, his behavior did not waver.

Till one day he met a girl.

Not just anyone, but one with a curl.

He fell hard and his behavior changed.

From his foul behavior, he refrained.

He acted like a young gentleman.

All stopped thinking he was mental then.

Seems he was decent and so refined,

when he was around others didn’t mind.

The girl with the curls took notice too.

Instead of acting like he belonged in a zoo,

he acted courteous and polite.

Being kind to her was his delight.

So ends the story of the piglet boy.

Who changed his ways and became a joy.—-R. W. Johnson—-(2012)

End Of My Rambling Ways

      End Of My Rambling Ways

I’ve always been a wayfaring wanderer.

Rambling back and forth across this land.

I’ve never wanted to settle down.

I’m just a fun loving traveling man.

Then I met that little gal.

Way down in Abilene.

She made my heart skip a beat.

As pretty as a beauty queen.

She looked my way and I was hooked.

I knew my rambling days were through.

But, it was more than just her looks.

My mama didn’t raise no fool.

She had the charms and manners of class.

Yet, she could talk to me like an average Joe.

She was intelligent and well versed.

Yet, never made me feel stupid or low.

I stayed around and we dated some.

We fit together like a hand in a glove.

I knew that I had found my soul mate.

Friends said, go ahead and ask her, with a shove.

I proposed and the rest is history.

She is my woman. She is my life.

I gave up my rambling ways.

Just to make this woman my wife.————-R. W. Johnson—-(2012)

Thoughts On A Bad Day

      Thoughts On A Bad Day

I’m wearing my emotions on my sleeve.

Gee, I hope that I don’t sneeze.

Life goes on, often, without hope.

A tsunami will probably sink the boat.

The boat that all humans are in.

Their just reward for a life of sin.

I only live from day to day.

I sound depressed I heard you say.

The world has taken a turn for the worst.

But, I have the answer. It’s not a curse.

Genocide by zero reproduction——

For 50 years with no disruption.

All will then be quiet on the western front.

The world will no longer be in a funk.

Then we can start over again.

Test tube babies are not a sin?

Form the world after our own image.

Tower of Babel will be our linage.

Will we then be destroyed from God above?

Maybe—- all we really need is love.———-R. W. Johnson—–(2011)

Coming To Reason

      Coming To Reason

Yesterday was a day that was.

Today is a day for us.

Tomorrow is the sum of it all.

Depending on if you stand or fall.

We have gone  and we have come.

We have set them on the run.

We have dug deep for the truth.

We did it all in our youth.

Baby, stay.—Close your eyes and pray.

This is our day to stand.—- To stay.

Trouble can find you wherever you go.

Trouble isn’t fast and trouble isn’t slow.

So, stay baby, stay.—-Stay.

Pray baby, pray.—-Pray!!

We have lived in a small town.

It was small, but, it was our town.

Later on, we moved around.

But, our hearts were in the small town.

We were caught between now and then.

Yesterday and today, we have been.

Tomorrow is the sum of it all

If we don’t pray then we will fall.

Baby, stay.—Close your eyes and pray.

This is our day to stand.—- To stay.

Trouble will find you wherever you go.

Trouble isn’t fast and trouble isn’t slow.

So, stay baby, stay.—-Stay.

Pray baby, Pray.—-Pray!!

“Pookey”

      “Pookey”

Oh, Pookey—you’re the most.

Your hard to find.

Just like a ghost.

You come and go.

just like the wind.

I never know

when you’ll be in.

Can you take me

wherever you go.

So that I’ll always be

part of your show.

From the highest mountains

to the deepest seas.

To life’s bubbling fountains.

Just you and me.

We’ll slide down a rainbow.

We’ll dance in fairy dust.

We’ll have a sparkling  glow

like the sun at dawn or dusk.

We’ll get lost in our magical world.

Riding dragons and having thrills.

Morning will find me curled up

In my bed . But,— where will you be??——-R. W. Johnson—–(2011)

Dreams Of You

      Dreams Of You

The candy colored clown they call The Sandman

slips into my room every night.

He says: “Go to sleep, if you can.”

“Everything —-will be alright.”

I close my eyes and say a prayer.

I pray that I will dream of you.

Then, suddenly, you are there.

In my dreams I’m with you too.

We walk along, as dreamers do.

I hold your hand as I walk with you.

You smile and say: “I love you.”

I pray that this is really true.

Then slow but, sure. You slip away.

I’m all alone standing there.

I awake as I start to say—-.

I go back to sleep again.

Soon, I am sleeping sound.

I dream I have you back again.

There is no one else around.

Your standing there in all your beauty.

I come to you with trembling lips.

You turn and give yourself to me.

I hold you firmly in my grip.

Then I awake once more.

I have a death grip on my pillow.

A sound. I run to the door—-

Of course, no one is there.

You have left this earth forever.

But, in my dreams, you still care.

You say, your with me forever.—————–R. W. Johnson—-(2012)

Time

      Time

Time, times, and the dividing of time.

Time outside of time.

Once upon a time.

Time to change your mind.

Let time unwind.

Stretch time to find.

Time after time.

You will still be mine.

Will you spend the time?

To see you are still mine?

In the end you will find.

It’s true. Time after time.

Go back in time.

Go forward in time.

At any time you will find.

I am yours and you are mine.

Two as one throughout time.

The way we blend is oh so fine.

We will always walk the line.

Till we reach the end of time.—————R. W. Johnson—-(2012)

Peace In A Fantasy World

Peace In A Fantasy World

The seven ethereal forms billowed into the room .

Like acrid smoke driven on the breath of doom.

Carried on by a cold bitter breeze.

Like an otherworldly collection  of eddies

of air carrying random spectral shapes.

They moved aimlessly, yet each had their place.

They wandered in a loose clutch that reached

among the still, stand mounted bears and beasts.

They rose up on pedestals holding books of prophecy.

Also, evenly displayed cases of oddities.

Their glass reflecting  fire from the hearth

at the side of the room giving birth

to swirling colors in their glow.

All the pillars sat neatly I n a row.

Each ethereal form settled on a prophetic book.

Then dissolved into it while I looked.

What ancient hell controls this cursed place?

I wondered as sweat ran down my face.

Living in  this tower of seven hells

was a creature Satan knows well.

It is said he wrote the prophecy’s.

In a language buried for eternity.

He is alive, yet among the undead.

His blood does not flow, it is often said.

I must retrieve the 7 books of prophecy.

Return them to hell for eternity.

The time draws near when they will become fact.

The only way to stop the prophecies is to act.

I have the power from the white throne.

I hope it will protect me since I am alone.

I know not what the ethereal beings mean?

Some type of protection by the unseen?

I mumble a silent prayer. Touch my heart.

I am ready, as I was from the start.

I know not to touch the books in any way.

I elevate them with power as I pray.

Then the bears and other beasts begin to stir.

They come to life at the summons I lure.

I send the books flying out of the room.

The bears and beasts attack  with a roar of doom.

I vanish right from their mists .

Then reappear outside the room of myths.

My robes are swirling around my legs.

I float the books into their kegs.

I move the kegs onto the cart.

Soon the tower and I am far apart.

I made my way back to the white throne.

To the one who sits there all alone.

He says I have done well

as he sends the books straight back to hell.

The ethereal shapes float back toward the tower.

They have been stripped of all their power.

The whole kingdom sings praises.

They bow in worship as the white throne raises.

“Peace will reign forever” He says, in a joyful mood.

As he sits high above the multitude.———–R. W. Johnson—-(2012)
