Saved By An Accident

      Saved By An Accident

We were walking, my girl & I.

Her sweet name is Velvet Skye.

Prettiest thing you would ever see.

Always wants to be with me.

We walked on along the shore.

Walked till we couldn’t walk anymore.

A steep cliff was in our path.

So we put down our picnic mat.

We prepared to eat our lunch.

Then we heard an awful crunch.

A car shot out over the cliff.

It landed in the ocean mist.

Shocked, we ran to try and help.

The water was cold with lots of kelp.

I dove down & pulled out a woman.

Surfaced & asked if she could swim.

She nodded yes & headed to shore.

I dove back down to check for more.

I found her purse and that was all

She had  reached shore & started to bawl.

We gave her a blanket to wrap up in.

She looked like she was all done in.

Her boyfriend & her had just split up.

She was having some pain in her gut.

She was speeding because she was angry.

.Air brakes would have came in handy.

She came into the curve too fast.

She knew she was going to crash.

She prayed to a God she barely knew.

Next she knew I was there too.

Helping her to get out of the car.

Bringing her up & to where we are.

I first thought you were an angel.

I don’t know how much to tell.

But, my life is changed somehow.

God is the only answer now.

Her testimony brought tears to our eyes.

Then my girl and I both realized.

We needed God in our life too.

You pray for us & we’ll pray for you.

Now we all are best of friends.

As our life in Christ really begins.

We all go to the same church.

It’s the greatest church on earth.

Because Jesus is there with us.

We thank Him for our near  brush

with death that day at the ocean.

It put our religious life in motion.————-R. W. Johnson—–(2013)

Ode To The Golden Dolphin

Ode To The Golden Dolphin

Late at night when most souls sleep

there is a meeting of the minds.

What they share is for them to keep.

They keep close track of their time.

But, The Dolphin never gave man

Insight to what he has in mind.

His thoughts are far above man.

His deeds are always kind.

The Dirty Old Men do their job.

They pull certain men together.

Some may find their job odd.

They are laymen of a feather.

So, please believe in The Brotherhood.

As it moves slowly through time.

Only the elite of men who stood

can reside there all the time.

Ask the Imperial Wizard.

He will guide you into light.

His gift is brilliance, a blizzard

of intellectual thoughts of right.

Dolphinia is a land of dolphins.

A place of eternal light.

The home of The Golden Dolphin.

The one who makes all things right.

Come with me to a wonderful  land.

A land of peace and dolphins.

A land with beaches of sand.

A place with no liberal men.

Leave behind all the wars, hate,

baby killers, and liberal waste.

Live a life of luxury and make

peace with your soul with haste.—————R. W. Johnson—-(2012)

Dream Lovers

      Dream Lovers

I saw the thing coming out of the sky.

It had two sets of wings & 3 big eyes.

It was the size of a Mini Cooper.

I didn’t have that big of a scooper.

It flew in a circle then it came down.

It’s cheeks were rosy. It looked like a clown.

“Take me to your girlfriend” it squeaked out.

In a voice so low I told it to shout.

“What do you want with her?” I yelled.

“She looks like the type that should be held.”

“Not by you, you horror movie reject.”

“Hey, I came a long way. Show some respect.”

“What are you?”, I curiously asked.

“A Cupid under a curse.” it answered at last.

“Where do you come from?” I asked again.

“A place where lovers always win.”

I yelled out “Oh no you don’t.”

“Not with my girl you won’t.”

“She’s not breaking that curse for you..”

“If she does then we are threw.”

“Let’s ask her” he said with a smile.

“Looks like I’m gonna be here awhile.”

“She’ll be scared of a freak like you.’

“Not after what I’m gonna do.”

“What exactly do you have in mind?”

“Treat her right then she will be mine.”

“I’m gonna treat her like a lady.”

“She’ll fall for me & I don’t mean maybe.”

I lunged for him and I fell out of bed.

I was dizzy for a while. I landed on my head.

Then I realized it was all a dream.

I got dressed and drove like a fiend.

Straight to my girlfriends place.

I rushed to her door like it was a race.

I hugged her like I never have before.

I said she was all I wanted and nothing more.

She was a lady & I would treat her like one.

Always, when serious or having fun.

She said ”What’s come over you?”

“I realize that I love you. Isn’t that cool?”

Future Meditations

      Future Meditations

Look up some clear, cloudless night .

When you’re away from city lights.

Millions of stars shining down.

Prettiest sight there is around.

Does this sight make you think?

Were not the only fish in the drink.

God’s creative power knows no limits.

Space is unbelievably immense.

Life abounds in that timeless sea.

One day visited by you and me.

We are in isolation due to sin.

We need forgiveness  from Him.

He has a way of escape for us.

It’s simple. Learn to trust.

Trust Him with all you do.

He will provide an escape for you.

Then, off to the stars we will go.

Learn everything you wanted to know.

Mysteries and adventure abound.

In no imagination can it be found.

Except in the mind of God.

What He has created is not odd.

it is exactly what we need to enjoy eternity.

I pray that you and I will  both get to see.

Summer, The First Time

      Summer, The First Time

Remember the fun you had as a kid?

Building  tree houses with a trap door lid?

Building forts and secret caves?

If in the country, those were the days.

We rode bikes everywhere we went.

There were no gangs. Threats weren’t sent.

We had fun exploring in the woods.

The dog was with us, like he should.

He kept us safe and we never got lost.

He would get us home at any cost.

We had our swimming hole in the creek.

Every summer that’s where we would meet.

We didn’t have phones to call home.

Our parents weren’t scared cause we were alone.

We would ride our bikes to meet one another.

Before we left we’d tell our mother.

We knew how to stay out of trouble.

There were mostly boys in our huddle.

We didn’t have computers or games.

We would read a book when it would rain.

No i-pods, cellular phones, or x-boxes.

Yet, we kept busy finding where our sock is.

We would make up games to play.

Or, just lie around in the sun all day.

When we got older we had a summer job.

All of us found work. It wasn’t odd.

There was still swimming after work.

On weekends we’d pull on our clean shirt.

Then off to church we would go.

It was the way things were, you know.

When old enough to finally drive.

To the A & W, we would arrive.

Checking out the cute little car hops.

Playing the music that wouldn’t stop.

Dating at the drive in with your favorite girl.

The entire time was such a thrill.

But, it’s all just memories now.

If I had the chance somehow.

I would go back and live it again.

It would be good to see old friends.

Now I look forward to heaven.

That time won’t end.. No home by eleven.

Ode To Joyce

      Ode To Joyce

Well tell me now Joyce, for heaven’s sake,

how you’re always getting the breaks?

You must have been really smart in school.

You can do  more than you think you can do.

All the years haven’t slowed you down.

You just keep on marching all  around.

Your looks don’t show the passing of years.

There’s no reason  ever to shed tears.

You may be in Kansas.—Far away.

This gives you more time to pray.

A lot is going on, besides the lies.

But, the parade is not passing you by.

You keep up on all that is happening.

yet, you still keep your family laughing.

Joyce, you’re a flower, ready to bloom.

When you walk in you light up the room.

Your husband is a lucky man indeed.

He got a flower garden with this little seed.

The perfect example of one who trusts God.

Turning all worries over to Him with a nod.

Living life to the fullest each day of your life.

Never looking back on the worry or strife.

You have memories, like we all do.

But, yours are as sweet as honey dew.

Those who are your friend are truly blessed.

Even acquaintances are touched like the rest.

Family members know the jewel that you are.

Even your BFF admires from afar.

The Computer Age

      The Computer Age

You’ve heard it said many times before.

You’ve heard me scream it as you went out the door.

I’m a pre computer person in a post computer age.

I’ve read the book & don’t understand a single page.

When I was young we used a slide rule.

Hand calculators ‘not allowed’ was the rule.

Then, as a young adult, computers came along.

I ignored them and kept singing my song.

My son said. “Get a computer. What could go wrong?”

“Pop, you have to stop singing that song.”

After some time I gave into the  pressure.

I got a computer and let it sit here.

My son came and hooked it up.

Learning the basics was really tough.

A mouse was what I set traps for.

A ‘floppy disk’ was a real horror!!

Words now seemed to mean a different thing.

learn a new language just to play with the thing.

To turn it off I have to press start.

If I pressed the delete button it could break my heart.

Very slowly, I learned most of the basic things.

It often caused nightmares in my dreams.

Cut and paste I could never get.

Kindergarten stuff, I couldn’t do on a bet.

Then came Outlook 6, 7, and 8.

I just didn’t have what it takes.

I was lost in a world of words and phrases.

The hell with this!! It can go to blazes!!

Then I was told to get a Galaxy S II phone.

I can get on the internet while gone or at home.

I can take pictures & put them on line.

Facebook would take up most of my time.

I can tweet and twitter galore.

I can text people. What is a phone for??

When I was young we used it to talk to each other.

That is all that was needed . So said my mother.

This electronic crap is driving me insane.

Pay bills on the computer. It seems so lame.

No wonder the mail service is dwindling away.

No time for mail while on the computer all day.

Get outdoors folks. Learn to have some outdoor fun.

Kids can’t ride a bike but, have calluses on their thumbs.

It’s a sign of the times you say to me.

I say get outside.  Learn to be free.

I’m a pre computer person in a post computer age.

I have to use a computer some, despite the rage.

But, the pre computer life was way better for me.

At least, back then I actually felt free.

Poor Body Image Blues

Poor Body mage Blues

I’m a pot bellied native.

And I wear it with pride.

Some call me a sadist.

But, you know they lied.

I’ve tried about every diet

to try and lose the weight.

I need someone to buy it.

Maybe that’s all it’d take.

I have exercised to no end.

Just to lose a few pounds.

I have got to be able to bend.

to just a few more rounds.

I’ve cut out all the snacks

I taken the laxatives too.

Then people say it smacks

of anorexic ways to you.

Except, I’m a pot bellied native.

I am  not a skinny skeleton.

I feel like I’m a weighted

down relic, —-son.

I could go on a hunger strike.

I would only drink water.

But, would I win the fight

of losing the weight like I otter?

I guess I need a new body image.

Or, others need one of me.

I MUST be slim like my linage

to be accepted, you see.—————–R. W. Johnson—–(2013)

The Odd Couple

      The Odd Couple

Well, there you go again. Saying I’m a looser.

Just because I don’t want to do it your way.

All you need to know is that I’m not a snoozer.

I won’t miss the opportunity to play.

We go round and round about the same thing.

Why must it always be your way?

We need to look at what we both bring.

We both need to have our say.

Rulers only listen when they are losing.

Otherwise, they always get their way.

Lovers will still love if they are losing.

But, they are better if they have their say.

The day will start out fine with plans you made.

But, let me change just one little thing.

All of a sudden, you’re done with the charade.

Lightning strikes again  into our fling.

You will not see any view but your own.

Rational arguments is like  spitting into the wind.

They come back twisted & hurt to the bone.

This is definitely coming to a rapid end..

Rulers only listen when they are losing.

Otherwise, they always get their way.

Lovers will still love if they are losing.

But, they are better if they have their say.

After a month or two of not seeing you.

You still will not discuss the problem.

You must think no one can see through you.

But, this does not bring a solution.

After all is said and done, it’s sad.

The good times were some of the very best.

But, they don’t outweigh the bad.

Even so, I don’t think of you any less.

Rulers only listen when they are losing.

Otherwise, they always get their way.

Lovers will still love  if they are losing.

But, they are better if they have their say.

An ‘Acid Trip’ Outing

An ‘Acid Trip’ Outing

I told her not to go there

but, there are people that she knows there..

It’s a wild nightclub on the edge of town.

The women going in there looked like clowns.

The band is really happenen

as the dancers try for action.

The fiddler keeps on fiddling.

He was only fair to middling.

There’s  drinking and there’s dancing.

Not the best place to find romance in.

Most people get hammered & float on by.

The Johnny Walker wisdom’s running high.

Well, I swear it happened just like this.

A sigh, a cry, a hungry kiss.

The gates of love; they budged an inch.

I can’t say much has happened since.

Most people are getting plastered

till someone there spilled acid.

The whole darn place went crazy twice.

Once for the devil and once for Christ.

The women tore their blouses off.

The men, they danced on the polka dots.

It’s partner found and partner lost.

They would grab another at any cost.

Now things are getting pretty tight.

Then we were blinded in the light.

The boss don’t like these dizzy heights.

He said that’s it for you tonight.

It’s closing time.———————————-R. W. Johnson—–(2013)
