Communication Lacking

      Communication Lacking

I came because you said you had something to say.

it’s been awhile, I’m sorry I have been away.

My job takes me out of town much of the time.

It’s not real fair to you, but you are still mine.

Then you tell me you need some time apart.

We’ve been apart. What is troubling your heart?

You can’t seem to be able to put it into words.

You need to try. Reading minds is for the birds.

I think without you I just can’t make it.

I am afraid that I can’t even fake it.

You say you are not trying to hurt me.

What is going on. Can you hear my plea?

It is nothing that you did or didn’t do.

Then was it something you did do?

No, it’s not that. It’s hard to explain.

This is like 20 questions guessing game.

Please, no tears, just tell it like it is.

I am trying. This is something that is.

That is what? Remember, I can’t guess.

I am sorry about it all. It’s such a mess.

What is a mess? I need to know.

Our situation is a mess I’m feeling low.

I am still no closer to understanding it all.

Just listen. I will explain before I bawl.

I am waiting. Just say it like it is.

Don’t rush me. First of all. There is no ‘his’.

What does that mean? I don’t get it.

There is no one else. Just forget it.

I didn’t say there was. Get to the point.

What point? I don’t have a point.

Then why the need for time apart?

It is hard to put into words . I’m not smart.

Sure you are. Who said you weren’t smart?

No, I’m not smart enough to say the right words.

Well, right now, there’s nothing being heard.

Do you see what I am trying to say?

It’s about as clear as night and day.

So far you haven’t said anything.

This would be easier if I had had a fling.

What? Did you have a fling?

No!! Can’t you understand anything.

With that she left the room.

I felt dumber than a broom.

Is there something I am missing here?

I threw my hands in the air  in fear.

Looks like this ‘love boat’ has run a ground.

I’m standing here with no one around.

Saved By An Angel

      Saved By An Angel

The day was just like any old day

as I went into town on my merry way.

I went to the bank to make a deposit.

It was money I saved & had stashed in my closet.

I was in line waiting for a teller.

Then the man in front pushed another feller.

He said ”All down. This is a stick up.”

A man in back said ”You heard him. What’s the hold up?”

Everyone hit the floor and laid face down.

The teller was looking at them with a frown.

“Put all the money in these sacks.”

“Unless you want a bullet coming out your back.”

The teller scrambled. Shaking a lot, he did as told.

Then the drama started to unfold.

A teenager got to his feet.

“Unless you want to die you better find your seat.”

“My mother is VERY sick.” the kid said.

“I need to make a withdrawal or she will be dead.”

“Sorry about that kid, but this money is mine.”

“It probably would be any other time.”

“But, today the Lord told me that’s not going to be.”

“He said you will give me the money that belongs to me.”

“Kid, you’re brave, but, also crazy.”

“Sit down now. Your bravado hasn’t fazed me.”

The kid moved to block the bandit’s retreat.

Two guns were raised for the kid to meet.

Meanwhile, the bank manager pushed the silent alarm.

The button was on the floor, right by his arm.

“Last warning kid. Get out of the way.”

“The Lord will protect me this very day.”

Both bandits tried to fire at his head.

Both guns jammed, just like the kid said.

Then sirens were heard getting louder.

The bandits dropped their loot and took a powder.

Police caught them before they had gotten far.

They didn’t even make it to their car.

The police went into the bank to get the facts.

They saw the money still in the sacks.

Bank people counted and some missing was found.

Then a teller found the kids withdrawal slip on the ground.

Made out to the same exact amount.

They called the mother and made another count.

The mother said ”I don’t have a son.”

Then she saw the money . It was real, not for fun.

“I was too sick to make a withdrawal.”

“Who could have done this after all?”

The bank was amazed because the kid had disappeared.

Most who were there thought it was really weird.

But, I knew it had to be an angel that day.

He stopped the robbers from making their play.

He saved the sick mother’s life.

Her faith in God gave her strength to fight.

Fame And Glory

      Fame And Glory

Tell me,  do you have a claim to fame?

Accomplished  great things in your name?

Did you win a trophy or maybe a metal?

Came out on top after all was settled?

Or, are you just an average Joe?

Someone who has nothing to show.

Does that make you small around others?

You’re in the majority, like many others.

But, there is one way you can  shine.

No matter who you are or the time.

Be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Work at it with all your might.

I know you can do nothing on your own.

Except you’ll have all the power of the throne.

The Holy Spirit will lead the way.

Every minute of your day.

Just cover yourself with the armor of God.

You’ll be protected no matter what odds.

You’ll save souls of  which you weren’t aware.

In heaven, you’ll meet them everywhere.

Each soul saved is a stone in your crown.

Hope you have a strong neck. Don’t frown.

Then you will have a claim to fame.

But, all the glory will be in His name.

No praise or glory will go to your head.

For, without the Lord, you would be dead.

Agape Love

      Agape Love

Rumor has it that your cheating on me.

Tell me how this can possibly be?

I’ve done more for you than can be conceived.

Now someone else is filling that need?

You were down and out when I came along.

I gave you hope to carry on.

I gave you strength to overcome.

I gave you more love than anyone.

I have actually always been there for you.

I helped when you needed me to.

You had to hit bottom before you called on me.

I was always pleading that you would see

I was there to help you all the time.

I would give you peace of mind.

I always helped you through the worst.

If you love only me I’ll remove the curse.

I’ll bestow blessings upon you untold.

Your every wish may now unfold.

Can another do such a thing?

Only briefly, for a little fling?

I plead you’ll give up his evil ways.

Repent and come back home to stay.

What About Me ?

      What About Me?

I saw you from across the room.

Walking in a cloud of gloom.

Your smile usually lit up a room.

It’s gone now. Much too soon.

I’ve been your friend for a long time.

I knew that guy wasn’t your kind.

You thought he was the special one.

Then he dumped you just for fun.

Now you are down in the dumps.

You wonder how he could be such a chump.

As your friend I know you did the same.

For years you acted just as insane.

Dumping one man after another.

I know. I am not your mother.

I know you were searching for ‘Mr. Right’.

You thought this last guy was out of sight.

You thought you finally found him.

Now, you are looking pretty grim.

Many men in your past felt the same.

They were serious,—– to you, a game.

They were dumped without a thought.

Now you see just what you wrought.

What comes around goes around.

Karma has knocked you to the ground.

Maybe you have looked to far and wide.

When he was here right by your side.

I am your friend, as you can see.

Yet I ask the question. What about me?—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

A Safe Haven

           A Safe Haven

Here I am safe and sound.

Wrapped tightly in your arms.

It is quiet all around.

Nothing better can be found.

Feeling your fingers feather soft upon me.

I’m as happy as a clown.

Snuggling close and hearing your heart beat.

Feeling the warmth of your love.

Squeezing you when you say things sweet.

Just laying back and loving you

is the sweetest thing I know.

Knowing that your love is true.

Simple things that make a heart fly.

Little things that you do.

All these things can make me high.

I say over and over that I love you.

You say that you love me more.

There is little more that I can do.

The greatest thing I know of

is spending time with you.

Just soaking up all your love.

Will this last? I couldn’t say.

I am lost as soon as you’re around.

Let it continue day after day.——————–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

The Answer To Stress

      The Answer To Stress

I can’t handle anymore stress at the job.

Some say that sounds a little odd.

Why is that, I heard myself say?

Stress isn’t uncommon at job or play.

You are a Christian. Give it to God.

I have tried. Does that sound odd?

It is affecting my health and life.

I am having trouble handling the strife.

Is your faith in God getting less?

Trust in Him and He will bless.

He will open other doors.

From heaven the blessings will pour.

When you think you’re down and out.

He’ll be there to pull you out.

Trouble & strife will make us stronger.

Keep faith in Him a little longer.

We will learn through it all.

There is nothing that may befall

that can separate us from His love.

Love that comes from God above.

You are His precious child.

He will protect you all the while.

As the storm rages all around us.

His love is there to surround us.

If we are faithful & not lose trust,

He will give the best to us.

We will soar like eagles on high.

Way up in a cloudless sky.

Nothing will bother us or bring us down.

Never a need to wear a frown.

Each and every day keep Him near.

With His shoulder to lean on, there is no fear.

Why Life Isn’t Fair

      Why Life Isn’t Fair.

Have you heard the statement  that life isn’t fair.

When it comes to hard knocks, we’ve all had our share.

Nothing ever seems to go right.

There is never an end in sight.

Have you ever wondered why?

Why life can often lead you to cry?

Didn’t you know there is a war going on.

It will be going on after were gone.

It is the war between good and evil.

We can’t escape it wherever we go.

The war between Christ and Satan.

Earth is the battleground where it was taken.

It started in heaven long ago.

Satan was cast out to earth, you know.

All that has happened here since.

Is a result of Satan’s pretence.

That God rules with an iron hand.

No free will if you’re in His band.

Humans are only a pawn in this game.

Let’s make that real plain.

We have freedom of will.

We can choose to love or kill.

Choose God and you will love.

Choose Satan and you’ll kill the dove.

There is no sitting on the fence.

Refusing to choose is no defense.

This battle will not last forever.

Probation closes for all, no matter how clever.

The Lord will come in all His glory.

With the host of heaven; so goes the story.

Satan will be cast into a bottomless pit.

That will put an end to it.

Till he and all his followers are judged.

Then cast into a lake of fire like thugs.

They will burn till totally consumed.

Leaving nothing to be exhumed.

The answer to who is right in this terrible war.

Will be answered here on earth, and more.

So bad will things end up that none will doubt.

That God is just, and love is what He is about.

Satan will lose in the end.

I hope you are not his friend.——————R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Turned Around By God

      Turned Around By God

I heard a rustling in the dirty alley.

Then I heard a desperate groan.

I decided to look, knowing this was folly.

The Lord impressed me to check out the moan.

There in the filth, urine, and waste

lye a long haired ‘hippy type’ in tattered clothes.

He smelled strong of alcohol & body waste.

The smell of a hash pipe hit my nose.

I knelt down and he looked around.

His pupils were pin point, though in the shade.

I knew more than alcohol & mj.  could be found.

He  smelled like hammered pig poop in a glade.

You look like life has kicked you around some.

You look about as low as you can go.

You look like you’re ready for the ground, son.

You don’t see anywhere else to go.

Let me say there is a new man in town.

He has the power to set you free.

Just sit up and look around.

This is not the life for you or me.

His name is Jesus and He is your friend.

You say what would He want with you?

There are many others who are where you’ve been.

Through you, Jesus can set them free too.

Let me help you to go where there is help.

Later, after a bath , shave, haircut, & clothes.

The young man looked like a fine young whelp

He thanked me and as he rose

I said dinner is very soon. Stay and have a bite.

He did & he ate like there was no tomorrow.

We prayed over the meal & he didn’t feel right.

I said Jesus can take away all pain and sorrow.

He wanted to know how that could be?

During a Bible study, I learned he was Carl.

Many answers were given to him, you see.

Soon, he was moved by the Holy Spirit.

He realized he really could be free.

He gave his heart to God. Let’s hear it.

Praise the Lord!! He now had a job to do.

He went back to the alleys & byways of the city.

He preached to others. He was like them too.

Now he was free. No more sorrow or pity.

By the power of Christ, he converted many.

His joy in life was seeing others saved.

Believe me, his reward will be plenty.

His greatest love was Jesus, he raved.

In The Nick Of Time

      In The Nick Of Time

I remember the day he saved my life.

It was filled with heartache and strife.

I was truly thinking of checking out.

I picked a time when no one was about.

Then, there was a knock on the door.

It was a coleporter selling books & more.

He talked about how the Bible gave us hope.

About how we can get help to cope.

What he said made sense to me.

I asked the man to pray with me.

He did & I felt a weight being lifted off.

I know all of this made the Devil wroth.

I bought a book called “Steps To Christ.”

I read it and it changed my life.

I knelt & gave it all to the Lord.

Life was exciting. No longer bored.

I called the coleporter & bought more books.

I read them all. I also read the Bible book.

I was changed. I was alive.

I told others about it. I didn’t hide.

I went to church . I made new friends.

I talk to everyone that God sends.

Many have followed my example.

My testimony, I guess, was ample.

Things are great. Things are good.

I put God first, just like I should.

Occasionally, trouble still comes my way.

I pray to God and it all goes away.

I’ll take this life over what I had before.

With God in my life I have so much more..

I have that coleporter to thank.

He is the best. On that you can bank.

He saved me from checking out.

But, really, it was God, without a doubt.—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)
