\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gone, But Not Forgotten<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I thought the obituary surly lied.<\/p>\n How could Charlie have ever died?<\/p>\n I felt like crying, but tears wouldn\u2019t come.<\/p>\n Way back, Charlie and I had so much fun.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Charlie was the kind of guy<\/p>\n who would take any dare, come do or die.<\/p>\n He did tons of crazy things.<\/p>\n Yet, he was never hurt. He earned his wings.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He had his way with the women too.<\/p>\n He scored with twice the girls as me & you.<\/p>\n He had a line that wouldn\u2019t quit.<\/p>\n The women went for every bit of it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He was the class clown in school.<\/p>\n He perfected the part of being the fool.<\/p>\n Charlie stood tall. A man among men.<\/p>\n A real hero,— again and again.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We probably have all known a \u2018Charlie.\u2019<\/p>\n Somewhere back in our iniquity.<\/p>\n A guy with similar traits.<\/p>\n A guy who rarely made mistakes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He married the most popular girl in school.<\/p>\n I wish she would have carried my books too.<\/p>\n He did his hitch in the Army.<\/p>\n Had an honorable discharge , then started farming.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He came to every school reunion.<\/p>\n The hearts of the girls he would soon win.<\/p>\n A guy like him always came out on top.<\/p>\n He would say: \u201cMake the most of what you\u2019ve got.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He did that all his life, till that day<\/p>\n they found something that wouldn\u2019t go away.<\/p>\n A deadly disease took him down.<\/p>\n What a way to put an end to the class clown.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He loved life to the fullest.<\/p>\n He\u2019ll be remembered,— I know it.<\/p>\n His oldest boy is just like him.<\/p>\n He might as well have been his twin.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As chance would have it, his name is Charlie too.<\/p>\n Of course, he is close to me and you.<\/p>\n Through him Charlie lives on.<\/p>\n Sometimes it\u2019s almost like he was never gone.—R.
