{"id":1203,"date":"2015-03-14T16:51:42","date_gmt":"2015-03-15T00:51:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wordsmithwisdom.com\/?p=1203"},"modified":"2015-03-14T16:51:42","modified_gmt":"2015-03-15T00:51:42","slug":"into-the-mirror","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wordsmithwisdom.com\/?p=1203","title":{"rendered":"Into The Mirror"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Into The Mirror<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They said to grandpa: \u201cIt is fun here.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Grandkids, \u00a0visiting one summer.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It was an old colonial house.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Perfect for grandpa &amp; his spouse.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A neat house for teens to explore.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It was still odd though, just like before.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There were no mirrors in the home.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They knew why, yet, they moaned.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cHow could such a story be true?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Grandpa said it was. \u201cWe\u2019re not fools.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>One day the kids were exploring the basement.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tom told his sister to be patient.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cWe\u2019ll check out everything here.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They only saw one thing that was queer.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In the corner was a large steamer trunk.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Buried under a bunch of junk.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They uncovered it and took a look. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It wasn\u2019t locked, only hooked.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They opened it &amp; found old clothes.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They even found shoes with wooden soles.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Down in the bottom they found a mirror.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThere is barely room for it in here.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Carefully, they lifted the antique out.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Propped it against the wall &amp; looked about.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>No one was there. Just the basement.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>An antique frame, the mirror was encased in.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They looked into the mirror &amp; got a shock.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They were there, but the basement was not.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They saw what looked like a castle wall.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They couldn\u2019t believe what they saw at all.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tom touched the mirror itself.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>His hand went into the mirror, he felt.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cBecky, did you see that?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cYes, your hand went out of sight\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cNo, it went right into the mirror.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cAre you sure? That seems queer.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cRemember the stories grandpa used to tell?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThey said the mirrors were a door to hell.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cLet\u2019s go in &amp; see what really is there.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They both stepped into, who knows where?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They were in like a storage area in a castle.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They snuck down the hall without hassle.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They heard voices up ahead.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It was coming from a side room instead.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A man, who looked like a wizard.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Was speaking to one who looked like a lizard.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cEgore, the mirror spell is almost completed.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI think I have just what I needed.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThe mirror will be our doorway to the future.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI will no longer have angry men after me.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cNo more villagers trying to kill me, see.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cWith my magical powers I will rule the future.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cNo more freeloaders. no more moochers.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cOnly problem, someone from there must<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>come through first to show they have trust.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThen our portal will never be closed.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He then made an evil laugh through his nose.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cMy descendants will pass down the mirror.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201c 400 years must pass before there is anything to fear.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tom &amp; Becky had heard enough.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They hurried back to the mirror in a rush.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They came bursting through.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Then tore upstairs to tell their grandpa too.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He said: \u201coh oh. I forgot about that mirror.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cNow, where do we go from here?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI have an idea,\u201d grandma said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>She put down her needle and thread.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>She got the family Bible &amp; a brass cross.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cWe will rebuke this at any cost.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>At the mirror, they held them both in the air.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cGod, rebuke this evil from here &amp; everywhere.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>At first nothing changed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Then, the mirror started smoking, in flames.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The stone walls inside started melting.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They heard a voice from within the hell scream.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cIt\u2019s on fire Egore, grab all you can bring.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI can\u2019t save the mirror. I can\u2019t get in the room.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cRun for your life, or we are doomed.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>After awhile, the fire went out. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>All was ash and blackened grout.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Then the scene snapped out of sight. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There was only a reflection of the basement light. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It now seemed to be an ordinary mirror.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>They had stopped the evil. That was clear.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Grandpa took the mirror to the dump anyway.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He still doesn\u2019t own any mirrors to this day.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-R.
