\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Way It Went Down<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n It was time to try again.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Another woman. Where to begin?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I stammered out a few words.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I wasn\u2019t sure if she had heard.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n So, I repeated them again.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re approach is pretty thin\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I said \u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI have heard it all before\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re not the first. But, you\u2019re local lore.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cSome bartender flappin his jaws.\u201d I said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThey exaggerate the women I\u2019ve taken to bed\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou can only believe half of what you hear.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhy don\u2019t you let me buy you a beer?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t give up easily, I\u2019ll say that.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhat makes you think I\u2019ll fall for that?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe both are here, so, why pretend.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe will probably never be here again.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n She laughed at that and said \u201cWhy not.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I smiled & thought \u2018I will give it all I\u2019ve got.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n We started talking while sharing a drink.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cHad ya going\u201d, she said with a wink.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I laughed and nodded my head.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI hope you weren\u2019t scared with that talk of bed.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n She said it wasn\u2019t the first time it\u2019s been heard<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cSometimes, it\u2019s more common than a cuss word.\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n We both laughed and continued to talk.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I found out \u00a0about her whole life\u2019s walk.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I told her quite a bit about myself.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n She said. \u201cTime to come down off the shelf.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d, as I hid a belch.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re up there like a well read book.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTime to come down & take a second look.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhat is it you really want from life?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI hope that doesn\u2019t make you uptight.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI hadn\u2019t really thought about it before.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cMost last one night, till she walks out the door.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cAre you saying you\u2019re looking for a relationship?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI guess I am,—– come to think of it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThat takes commitment on your part & hers.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThat would be a \u2018new book\u2019 that\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Well, you can guess where this conversation went.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I am not sure if she hooked me or if I wanted to vent.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n But, we connected in a way that never happened before.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n When we left, we were together as we went out the door.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Years later, we still haven\u2019t been apart.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Fill in the blanks.
