Coming back home, where the oak trees grow.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Where the foothills thrive & rivers flow.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Where the mountains start their upward climb.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Where I left that love of mine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Look at the changes that have happened here.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The small town has grown more than I feared.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The old homestead is still standing.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Sometimes, it isn\u2019t easy understanding<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

why I ever left this little bit of heaven.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I guess my bread needed more leaven.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I needed to rise to the occasion.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Which I did, without hesitation.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

All of that is behind me now.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Time to hitch the horses & get behind the plow.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Time to make a life here again for me.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Time to see if my old love is still free.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

She hadn\u2019t heard yet I was back in town.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

She was surprised when I came around.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

She threw herself into my arms.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was aware of all of her charms.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

She told me she thought I had died.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I said \u201cNo, I am very much alive.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I told her I was surprised she had waited for me.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

She told me that wasn\u2019t how it was, you see.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

She had dated many men. But, no one filled the bill.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Only I could ever give her a thrill.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I said I felt the same about her.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

No one could replace her. That\u2019s for sure.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

So, our romance, that had been put on hold<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

began again. Like a whirlwind, we rode.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It led to our marriage and a family.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We made a go of this farm & its shanty.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have a beautiful spread we call home.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Three fine kids and a life they have grown<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

to love each and every day. In every way.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The time will come for them to go away.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Hopefully, like I did, they will return.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Heart in hand for the one they yearn.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

May their desires turn out as well as mine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

But, that will all happen at another time.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
