{"id":1354,"date":"2015-05-10T12:20:24","date_gmt":"2015-05-10T20:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wordsmithwisdom.com\/?p=1354"},"modified":"2015-05-11T15:41:35","modified_gmt":"2015-05-11T23:41:35","slug":"the-legend-of-robin-hood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wordsmithwisdom.com\/?p=1354","title":{"rendered":"The Legend Of Robin Hood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legend Of Robin Hood<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Robin Hood was a sly little fellow.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He would rob from the rich &amp; give to the poor.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>His band of \u2018merry men\u2019 were pretty mellow.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He became a thief to even the score.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Sherriff was oppressing the peons.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Taxing them way beyond reason.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>King Richard had been gone for eons.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He would be back in due season.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He would not stand for such oppression.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Sherriff would get his neck stretched.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Meantime, Robin Hood took possession<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>of all the money the Sherriff had fetched.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Robin had one thing going for him.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It was his skill with a longbow.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He could shoot a bow like Cupid\u2019s twin.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>His long shots had never gone low.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Sherriff wanted Robin\u2019s head.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He couldn\u2019t roust him from Sherwood Forrest.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>So, he held a contest, instead.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The best archer would win, of course.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There was a big cash prize offered.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Robin couldn\u2019t resist such a competition.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The money was taken from the tax coffers.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Robin wanted to win to make redemption.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Robin disguised himself as a common beggar.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He registered for the contest. He had a bow.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The contest started and there were wagers.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The final two would shoot a longbow.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>It was the Sherriff\u2019s best archer against<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>the strange beggar, who was very good.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The archer hit dead center &amp; kissed his wench.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The beggar\u2019s arrow split the archer\u2019s wood.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Such a shot, no one had ever seen.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>To split another\u2019s arrow at such a distance,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>could only mean the beggar wasn\u2019t who he seemed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He, grabbed the prize &amp; avoided resistance.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>All realized it was Robin Hood.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He threw the prize money to the poor.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Sherriff was doing all he could.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Yet, Robin made it out the door<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He got away and the Sherriff looked the fool.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Robin &amp; his men were hero\u2019s of the poor.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Sherriff planned things that were really cruel.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Before long King Richard returned from the war.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>He was informed of the total situation.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Sherriff was arrested and hung.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Robin was pardoned \u00a0with elation.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Maid Marion &amp; Robin became as one.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>So ends my prose of Robin Hood.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>True or legends, he is still a hero.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>One who goes around doing good.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Most people think of him as real.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;R.
