{"id":1396,"date":"2015-05-24T19:38:15","date_gmt":"2015-05-25T03:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wordsmithwisdom.com\/?p=1396"},"modified":"2015-05-26T13:55:45","modified_gmt":"2015-05-26T21:55:45","slug":"the-radio-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wordsmithwisdom.com\/?p=1396","title":{"rendered":"The Radio Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Radio Days<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>For better times and better ways,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I started thinking of radio days.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I remember those good old times.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You got food, drink, maybe some wine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Then the family gathered around the radio.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Just to hear your favorite shows.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There were comedies like Amos\u00a0&#8216;n&#8217; Andy.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Abbot &amp; Costello were really dandy.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Westerns like The Lone Ranger.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Gunsmoke and \u00a0other dangers.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Mysteries, like The Shadow Knows.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ever wonder where The Shadow goes?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There was Dragnet and Gang Busters.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Buzz Cory and The Space Patrol.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Inner Sanctum and other shows.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There were many, many more.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>We often sat around on the floor.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Yes, we enjoyed these family times.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Most of the shows were just fine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Quite a different activity from today.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>But then, we were different in every way.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Things back then were easy going.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The shows we heard left little showing. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Not the fast paced rush of today.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>There was lots more time to play.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>To each his own as to what they like.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>But, I\u2019ll take the old days. They were all right.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;R. W.
