He had a chance to be a hero. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He came upon a dragon sleeping.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

To him, the moment became real.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

A dragon slayer. A title he was seeking.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He snuck up, quiet as a mouse.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t want to wake it up.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

When he got close he felt like a louse.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He started getting a pain in his gut.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

What if his first strike didn\u2019t kill it.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

What would he do when it awoke.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then he accidently stepped on a stick.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It snapped & then the dragon spoke.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It said \u201cWell, who have we here?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cA fearless dragon hunter, no doubt.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cA dragon sleeping is nothing to fear.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBut, when it awakes, no time to shout.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t really want to hurt you,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou are a beautiful thing to see up close.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no way I would want you dead.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t need to kill you. I\u2019m not one to boast.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cInteresting,\u201d the dragon said. \u201cLet me see.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou say I am beautiful to you\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou look to me about as pretty as you can be.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou see, I am a female dragon too.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is only one thing that I lack.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The dragon said, with a most serious look.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThat is someone to ride on my back.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone to bond to. Now, don\u2019t get shook.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI am not afraid.\u201d he said. \u201cIt sounds fun.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBut, why would a fierce dragon do that?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTrue, I would be a hero. The only one.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe only one to ride on a dragon\u2019s back.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cA dragon\u2019s highest honor is to have a rider.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially for a female dragon.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause we can bond with our rider.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMale dragon\u2019s can\u2019t. I\u2019m not bragging.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever do you mean by bond??\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe rider & I become one mentally.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI can hear his thoughts. Know what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHe can do the same. It\u2019s all mental, you see.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI have never heard of such a thing.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou wouldn\u2019t have. Few people know.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere hasn\u2019t been a rider in many springs.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll be the first in years, so let\u2019s go.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Suddenly, he felt a little lightheaded & dizzy.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018I just bonded with you. give it time.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He heard the voice in his head. It wasn\u2019t he.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018No, it wasn\u2019t you. The thought was mine.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018You can hear all I think in your head.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018I can hear all your thoughts too.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Now, the bond is never broken till one is dead.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018You will get used to it. I know you’re no fool.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Yes, I can breathe out fire, even for fun.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018I picked you to bond with for a reason.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018A dragon prophecy said you were the one.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Our destiny will be great in due season.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

So, here is how the Dragon Rider began.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

They did a lot of things during their time.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Their fame spread throughout the land.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Their stories number like grains of sand.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
