\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Survival Has It\u2019s Cost<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Struggling along through the burning sand,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

while I hold my loved ones hand.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We help each other along.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The end will come. It won\u2019t be long.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have heavy packs upon our backs.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We even have some food in a few sacks.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our water is starting to get low.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We don\u2019t know how much further we can go.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We are being pursued for our food.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Someone is following. Stuck to us like glue.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

If we can get through this desert,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

we will be able to find solid dirt.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then we can make better time.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Get to my brother\u2019s house & be fine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

His place is deep in the mountains.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It is well guarded & near a fountain.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He has a large storehouse of supplies.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He awaits our arrival. He & his wife.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

As we rest, I see the man. He is near.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I yell for him to stop, with fear.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He fires a shot at me. I duck for cover.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I grab my rifle & blow him off his feet.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He doesn\u2019t move. Just lies in the heat.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I am shaking & cry out to the Lord.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy must I fight this crazy hoard?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMust I kill them all to survive?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cShould I totally depend on you to stay alive?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOr, do I do what I can to help myself?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLet you handle everything else?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We continue on across the burning sands.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Finally, we see some foliage on the land.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

In a couple days we are in the mountains.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We thank God for our blessings as we count them.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It will still take days to reach his home.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We pray to God that we are not alone.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have water now. There is small game.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We can survive.—– That much is plain.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

My brother\u2019s house finally comes into sight.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

My walkie talkie reaches him in the night.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He is waiting when we reach the door.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I said \u201c I don\u2019t want to kill anymore.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We all pray for the Lord\u2019s protection.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I ask forgiveness, with no exceptions.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The time of trouble has arrived.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

All we wanted was to survive.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Live till we see our Lord in the sky.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Pray we\u2019re saved and will not fry.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
