The holiday season is upon us.
\nBrotherly love is all around.
\nI love Christmas without the fuss.
\nAll the music is the holiday sound.<\/p>\n
I have no girlfriend, but many friends.
\nWe are all in the holiday spirit.
\nWould I like eggnog? It depends.
\nIf not spiked, I\u2019ll say cheers with it.<\/p>\n
What is this? A special delivery.
\nA package with no return address.
\nIt says open now. It is free.
\nI hope it doesn\u2019t cause distress.<\/p>\n
\u2018My Christmas wish would be you.\u2019
\nJust that simple note in big letters.
\nWho has sent this? I haven\u2019t a clue.
\nPerfumed, I wouldn\u2019t forget her.<\/p>\n
I hope it is not a joke, but who?
\nI paced around, trying to think.
\nI am not sure what I should do.
\nI\u2019ll just wait, I thought with a wink.<\/p>\n
Next day, another delivery.
\nA beautiful package with a bow.
\nAs I opened it I felt all shivery.
\nWho sent this? I have to know.<\/p>\n
A picture of me in the park.
\nIt said: \u201cMy angel to save me.\u201d
\nIs this thing some kind of lark?
\nDon\u2019t know when, you see.<\/p>\n
I can\u2019t remember posing for it.
\nAgain I paced. I couldn\u2019t bring
\nIt to mind.—– Nothing fit.
\nI have to figure out this thing.<\/p>\n
Next day a 3rd package arrived.
\nThis is really blowing me away.
\nI looked inside and almost died.
\n\u201cWe must meet, instead of this way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Instructions as to where to go.
\nThe date and time for the meeting.
\nNo name attached so I had to go.
\nWhat would be a proper greeting?<\/p>\n
It was a girl I knew from school.
\nVery pretty, but the quiet type.
\n\u201cI always wanted to meet you.\u201d
\n\u201cI was just too shy to try, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I came up with this \u2018gift\u2019 plan.\u201d
\n\u201cChristmas is just around the corner.\u201d
\n\u201cMy only wish was to meet you, Sam.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, it worked—–. I am here.\u201d
\nSo started my best Christmas ever.
\nMistletoe and nothing to fear.
\nI got my first kiss. Very clever.<\/p>\n
May all have a Christmas this good.
\nSue and I have been together since.
\nWe both got what we should.
\nNo longer will either sit on the bench.<\/p>\n
Watching others go by hand in hand.
\nHappy smiles on their faces.
\nWe have each other now. It\u2019s grand.
\nLife is good. I wouldn\u2019t trade places.<\/p>\n
