School Of Hard Knocks<\/p>\n
Two little boys were huddled together.
\nThey were in the alley, despite the weather.
\nThey had something on the ground.
\nThey were fascinated by what they found.
\nIt was a little non-descript box.
\nThe excitement could blow off their socks.
\nThey were trying to get it open.
\nThey thought maybe it was broken.
\nThey had no key & there was no slot.
\nYet, they knew they had to lift the top.
\nThey twisted, pulled, pried, & cussed.
\nThere had to be a way to make it bust.
\nThey had no idea what was inside.
\nIt didn\u2019t rattle around, though they tried.
\nWhat in the world could it be?
\nIt was a total mystery, they could see.
\nThey decided to take the box home.
\nIt was about the size of an old phone.
\nNot too heavy, but not really light.
\nPut in a backpack, it was just right.
\nAt home, they went in the garage.
\nA big old hammer should do the job.
\nThey beat the hell out of it.
\nNothing happened. More cussing & spit.
\nThey tried a drill, but the bit broke.
\nThey took a brake & drank a Coke.
\nThen they tried to saw it open.
\nAll they tried eventually got broken.
\nLooking close, they saw a little lip.
\nThey put a pry tool under it.
\nAfter a lot of effort, the lid popped open.
\nInside the box was a little token.
\nStuck to the bottom to keep it still.
\nWas this worth all their stubborn will?
\nIt said: I LIKE IKE in big letters.
\nThat really fluffed up their feathers.
\nThey threw the box in the trash.
\nLater they saw their dad with cash.
\nHe said: \u201cI found a box worth money.\u201d
\n\u201cIt had an I LIKE IKE button in it worth plenty.\u201d
\nBoth the kids looked abashed.
\nTheir big treasure had turned to ash.
\nLet this be a lesson well learned.
\nIf you\u2019re too greedy, you could get burned.<\/p>\n
