Why did we go our different ways?

\nYet, you didn\u2019t come to get me.
\nI guess you wanted to be free.
\nLife isn\u2019t right when you\u2019re not around.
\nYou keep me firmly anchored to the ground.
\nYou\u2019re someone I can cling to.
\nWhen I need guidance to make it through.
\nI hope you didn\u2019t think I was needy.
\nEven though I wanted you to feed me.
\nI get carried away with flighty ideas.
\nYou calm me, especially when people see us.
\nYou are a beacon in a stormy sea.
\nI focus on you and I am free.
\nI am not adrift on any old current.
\nI feel grounded, even if you weren\u2019t.
\nSomeday, our paths may cross again.
\nI will always consider you a friend.
