Overcoming Fear Of Others<\/p>\n
I was raised in a very isolated area.
\nI rarely saw people, other than family.
\nI was 21. Strangers caused hysteria.
\nI knew that it wasn\u2019t very manly.
\nI was hunting one day far from home.
\nJust my dog and I. we went West.
\nI knew that we were all alone.
\nThen, we ran into a hornet\u2019s nest.
\nI accidently stirred them up pretty bad.
\nI was running as fast as I could.
\nBut, the hornets were pretty mad.
\nThey stung me, even under my hood.
\nI stumbled and fell down a slope.
\nKnocked myself out against a tree.
\nI woke up to the smell of smoke.
\nMy eyes were puffy. I could barely see.
\nA stranger, a girl, held smoke in her hand.
\nThe smoking brand chased the hornets away.
\nShe said \u201cI\u2019ll try to help you all I can.\u201d
\n\u201cYou were stung many times, I must say.\u201d
\n\u201cYour dog led me to you.\u201d
\n\u201cI would have never seen you otherwise.\u201d
\n\u201cGood thing, the hornets still weren\u2019t through.\u201d
\n\u201cI put salve on your stings. I apologize.\u201d
\n\u201cBut, I know it helps with pain and swelling.\u201d
\nI was petrified of her. But, she was pretty.
\nVery kind and gentle. Never yelling.
\nI finally thanked her. I was feeling giddy.
\nShe asked where was my home?
\nI told her far to the East.
\nShe said \u201cThis area is where I roam.\u201d
\n\u201cI live about 2 miles South, by the creek.\u201d
\nI told her we were hunting & went too far.
\n\u201cCome home with me till you feel better.\u201d
\nMy face went white. You could see my scar.
\n\u201cWhat is the matter?\u201d (Did I upset her?)
\n\u201cI have just never been around people.\u201d
\nShe said \u201cDo you live all alone then?\u201d
\n\u201cNo, with family. That\u2019s all I see though.\u201d
\n\u201cAre you married, or like other men?\u201d
\n\u201cjust my parents & a brother. So, no.\u201d
\n\u201cI know what it\u2019s like to live here. It\u2019s hell.
\n\u201cIt is very desolate out here, I fear.\u201d
\n\u201cWe won\u2019t bite. We will treat you well.\u201d
\n\u201cJust my parents & I. No one else near.\u201d
\nI tried to stand, but was very shaky.
\nI decided to take her up on her offer.
\nShe had to pretty much take me.
\nWithout her help, I would have faultered
\nHer mom fed me and said to wait.
\nThe salve was already helping a bit.
\nAnother hour or so is all it will take.
\nIn a couple hours I was on my way.
\nI got home just before dark.
\nThere wasn\u2019t a lot I could say.
\nExcept, I went West a lot. I was smart.<\/p>\n
