In the early morning dawn.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

With a coffee in my hand.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I remember that you are gone.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

No longer now am I your man.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0In my car, down the street from you.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I see the frost upon the lawn.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I am wondering what to do?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

My head is throbbing. What\u2019s going on?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The coffee seems to help a little.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It is all that drinking done last night.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I am no longer as fit as a fiddle.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Mostly,—– I am just uptight.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

You and I were a perfect pair.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Till the day our child died.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

You didn\u2019t talk. You wouldn\u2019t share.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I did all I could. I really tried.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

You cut me loose & I was lost.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I turned to drinking. Empty inside.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The sun is up & melting the frost.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Soon, he\u2019ll be here to give you a ride.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He pulls up in his shiny sports car.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I know it is mostly all for show.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

On the seat, he has his guitar.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

How you two met, I\u2019ll never know.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

You come running out to meet him.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He holds you briefly in his arms.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

You head to work with him then.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I know he is captured by your charms.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I just sit & stare at the empty road.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

There is no reason for me to stay.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I feel half dead & I am getting cold.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I guess I\u2019d best be on my way.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
