On August 24, 2014 at 0320 I thought I was dead.<\/p>\n

I woke up with a freight train running through my head.<\/p>\n

The whole place was shaking, things falling everywhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cEARTHQUAKE\u201d my wife yelled. I knew she was there.<\/p>\n

It was darker than the pit of hell. The power was off.<\/p>\n

Dust was in the air.—– I began to cough.<\/p>\n

Finally, my wife found the flashlight she keeps by the bed.<\/p>\n

There was a big cloud of dust over our head.<\/p>\n

The shaking had stopped by now.<\/p>\n

We started looking around. \u201cHoly cow!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Things had fallen everywhere up to the level of the bed.<\/p>\n

I started getting a real bad headache in my head.<\/p>\n

The other flashlight was by the front door.<\/p>\n

I had to climb over mounds of broken gore.<\/p>\n

I barely could squeeze out the bedroom door.<\/p>\n

My shoes were in the hall with half the house on the floor.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t have pants but, I had shoes.<\/p>\n

I climbed on, trying not to be verbally rude.<\/p>\n

I finally reached the front door.<\/p>\n

The flashlight wasn\u2019t there anymore.<\/p>\n

The door would only open a couple inches.<\/p>\n

I was searching for the flashlight without britches.<\/p>\n

Then I heard someone just outside.<\/p>\n

It was my daughter checking if we survived.<\/p>\n

I said we were o.k. but, I couldn\u2019t open the door.<\/p>\n

She said o.k. She knew the score.<\/p>\n

She was going back home. She will be back later.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks, bye.\u201d Then I found the light, I fear.<\/p>\n

What a mess!! Where to start?<\/p>\n

It was enough to break our hearts.<\/p>\n

I started at the door to clean it all up.<\/p>\n

30 days later we are still cleaning up.<\/p>\n

All I have to say is: \u201cEARTHQUAKES SUCK!!!\u201d<\/p>\n
