It happened on a day when all was right.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Two hot cars, looking out of sight.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The day was here for the big race.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

They both would give it all it takes.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

My fuel injected Sting Ray and a 413.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Revving up their engines and sounding mean.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

When the flag went down we were off.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

All the smoking tires could make you cough.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He was getting rubber in every gear.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

But, I was still out front without any fear.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

All was just a blur as scenery flew by.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He was getting beat by \u2019that other guy.\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u2018That other guy\u2019,—- meaning me.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I was ahead, and all could see.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He had a ram induction, but it\u2019s understood.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I had a fuel injected engine sitting under my hood.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Just before I won, I woke up in bed.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

What were these dreams in my head?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t race cars. I\u2019m way too old.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I would never do something so bold.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Must be a flashback of childhood dreams.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Brought on by The Beach Boys \u201cShutdown,\u201d it seems.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

That song made me feel alive back then.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Now, I\u2019m dreaming I am at it again.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
