He came in on a stormy night.<\/p>\n

He really looked quite a fright.<\/p>\n

Clothes soaked,. hair all a mess.<\/p>\n

He was scary, as you might guess.<\/p>\n

Straight to the fireplace, he did go.<\/p>\n

Shaking off water just for show.<\/p>\n

He said \u201cDon\u2019t go out there. Death awaits.\u201d<\/p>\n

Suddenly, it got real quiet in the place.<\/p>\n

I was about to take a drink of beer.<\/p>\n

I set it down with a hint of fear.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw the Grim Reaper with sickle bright.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe appeared out of the dead of night.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe didn\u2019t seem to be looking at me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, I didn\u2019t wait around to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI took off running like a bat out of hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe started moving really fast, as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018That\u2019s when I saw your light & came in here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018He is out there waiting , I fear.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat kind of guff is that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI ought to smack you right where you\u2019re at.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cComing in scaring everyone here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a respectable saloon, ya hear.\u201d<\/p>\n

The bartender was a little miffed.<\/p>\n

He wanted to throw out the stiff.<\/p>\n

Then, rap, rap, rap, rap on the door.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s him!!\u201d yelled the wet stranger.<\/p>\n

\u201cRun, you\u2019re all in danger!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShut your mouth\u201d the bartender said.<\/p>\n

He went to the door shaking his head.<\/p>\n

He looked out & no one was there.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs this a joke\u2019 he said with a stare.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave you got a buddy out there?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo\u201d, stammered the guy, \u201cI\u2019m telling the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you\u2019re just being uncouth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, from outside came a blood curdling scream.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone\u2019s going to die, or so it would seem\u201d<\/p>\n

The bartender grabbed his shotgun under the bar.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody stay just where you are!!\u201d<\/p>\n

He pointed the shotgun by its bore.<\/p>\n

Then, there was scratching at the door.<\/p>\n

The bartender fired blowing a hole in the door.<\/p>\n

They didn\u2019t hear the sound anymore.<\/p>\n

They looked outside. \u201cIt\u2019s Billy McGuire!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou killed him dead. The stranger wasn\u2019t a liar.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere did the stranger go?\u201d asked someone.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to find him. This isn\u2019t fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

They searched around but, he wasn\u2019t there.<\/p>\n

He just disappeared. He wasn\u2019t anywhere.<\/p>\n

They listened. Maybe to hear a word.<\/p>\n

A fading laugh was all that they heard.<\/p>\n

The storm raged on outside.<\/p>\n

But, within, all lost their pride.<\/p>\n

All were shaking in their boots.<\/p>\n

They felt fear right down to their roots.<\/p>\n

What happened that night was never fully explained.<\/p>\n

People never said much for fear of going insane.<\/p>\n

It was ruled an accidental death.<\/p>\n

No one said it was the Grim Reaper that they\u2019d met.<\/p>\n
