A bird appeared on the porch today.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

A single bird on Christmas day.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Not a partridge or a cardinal.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I wondered if he had far to go?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

A black bird. A crow or raven?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I gave him seed. He stayed then.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He brightened up the day for us.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Hopping around and strutting his stuff.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Was this a sign of something coming?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Some kids went by out front, running.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t fly away. He just watched.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He flapped his wings. Then he stopped.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Moving aside if someone went out,<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He wasn\u2019t afraid, just hopped about.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He stayed on the porch all day.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He was a blessing, I must say.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Each time we looked he was there.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He wasn\u2019t going anywhere.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It was all a mystery to us.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Why did he think we, he could trust?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

At sundown he pecked on the door.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Was he hungry and wanted more?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

We opened the door and heard him say.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cMerry Christmas,\u201d \u00a0and he flew away.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
