“What did you get inside the box?”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Don\u2019t talk about that dumb old box.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Why not?,” he said with a moan.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“It was there when I got home.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“It has no top, latch, hinge, or label.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“It was just sitting there on the table.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“I picked it up. It was light as a feather.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“There was no accompanying letter.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“I shook it, but couldn\u2019t hear a thing.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Who thought of this to bring?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“I left last. The house was locked.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“How did it get left in this spot?”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“My mom is at work all day.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“My dad\u2019s out of town, far away.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“It seems to be a perfect 12″\u00a0cube.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“The edges are sharp, well hewed.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“It\u2019s light, like the metal on my bike.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“But, it won\u2019t reflect any light.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“You have got to be spoofing me.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Pick it up and you will see.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“All right, I will take it outside.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He tried to lift it by its sides.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

In his effort, he turned red.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“It\u2019s heaver than hell,” he said.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“What!!” “You lie.” ”\u00a0Let me try.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I tried till I almost died.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“I picked it up awhile ago.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“It was super light, you know.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“What the hell is going on here?”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Let\u2019s go. I don\u2019t want it near.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Jimmy, I\u2019m home.” I heard mom say.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Anything interesting happen today?”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Just that box on the kitchen table.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Who\u2019s it from?” \u00a0“It has no label.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“It was there when I got home.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“I locked the door before I left home.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“How did it get in here then?”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“I have no idea how or when?”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Move it to the coffee table in the den.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“I can\u2019t. It is way too heavy.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She picked it up with no effort at all.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Then moved it to the den down the hall.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Your dad will be home tomorrow eve.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“He may know something, I believe.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

We both pretended like it wasn\u2019t there.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Then, next morning, it wasn\u2019t there!!<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Did you move that box somewhere else?”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“No, I haven\u2019t.” I said with a belch.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

We looked high and low for the box.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

All I found was a pair of dirty\u00a0socks.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

We told dad all about it that evening.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“I know nothing about this scheming.”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Days later, It is still a mystery. I say:<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

“Did a box show up at your house today??”<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
