I was overseas when it happened.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

At first, I thought it was a distraction.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It was much more than that, it seems.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

An asteroid hit to the extremes.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Life on this planet was disrupted.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Like everyone had become corrupted.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

All forms of transportation was down.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

No communication anywhere around.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Back to the stone age in one big blast.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Man will be lucky if he can last.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Somehow, I had to get back home.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Can\u2019t leave my loved ones all alone.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I found a sailing yacht willing to take me.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The Captain said yes, for a large fee.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I barely had enough to cover it.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I just hoped he wouldn\u2019t quit.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Incredible storms \u00a0were brewing.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Due to the blast and its undoing.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Several times I thought we would sink.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It almost threw my ass into the drink.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Constant rain the entire way.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Winds strong enough to blow us astray.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

We finally made land in a U.S. harbor.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

To get home, I must go much farther.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The asteroid hit in New York state.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The people there had a deadly fate.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

My home was in Northern California.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Damage there was torn land and lava.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Bad weather covered the entire world.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Worse than a \u00a0nuclear winter world.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

We had landed in San Francisco Bay.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I rode a bike north for another day.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Finally, I reached our home.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Things were such a mess, <\/span><\/i>I moaned.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The family was safe in our fallout shelter.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Their lives had been knocked all kilter.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

But, physically, they were all safe.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Survival preparations and a lot of faith.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

We were overjoyed to be together.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Now, we had to deal with the weather.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Global warming was out the door.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Now colder than it ever was before.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

We had enough food to last a year.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

It would take that long for the sky to clear.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

But, with my loved ones by my side.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

I will be in for the ride.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

After everything, it is family that counts.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Any and all mountains we will mount.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

With the Lord as our savior, we can\u2019t fail.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll get by with no internet or mail.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
