There is something there behind me.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know what it is.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know how it finds me.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know what it is.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It is there on sunny days now.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Not so much on cloudy days.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It disappears at noon somehow.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Then grows taller later in the day.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It never says a word to me.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It is a lot like a ghostly figure.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

But, it is always following, see.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I got my gun and pulled the trigger.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t flinch, it didn\u2019t die.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

It followed me till I went inside.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I almost felt like I wanted to cry.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I wanted to be brave. I really tried.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I told my girlfriend why I was scared.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cYou stupid jerk. That\u2019s your shadow.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She talked to me like I was impaired.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She upset me, and got me raddled.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Does a shadow cut you?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Does a shadow burn your feet?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Does a shadow try to choke you?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Does it bite you with its teeth?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She said I was talking crazy.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

So I showed her all the marks.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She quietly said that maybe<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I should go see Dr. Clark.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He is a Psychiatrist in town.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I have met with him before.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I know that he won\u2019t put me down.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He will help me, I am sure.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He said a shadow would not hurt me.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Only something evil would do that.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He said he would issue a decree.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

For all the evil to stand back.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

When I went outside the \u2018figure\u2019 was gone.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

My friendly shadow was back again.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I am glad it is back after so long.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Because my shadow is my friend.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
