Mountain Mike was a mountain man.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Hunting and trapping in mountain land.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Making a living from selling the furs.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He had his rifle and a mangy cur.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He would be gone all year long.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He would hunt and fish till game was gone.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He was friends with most of the Indians.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Even so, he would seldom see them.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

One day he found a girl, nearly dead.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Her parents died of a disease, it\u2019s said.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She was starving, went looking for food.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She was in a severely depressed mood.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Mike nursed her back to health.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

In his one room cabin, built for himself.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

After a few months, they became friends.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She called him father in the end.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He taught her to fish, hunt, and trap.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Prepare the fur for taking back.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Taking back to the outpost to be sold.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Then buy supplies for the winter cold.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She became an expert shot.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Better than Mike, when really hot.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

He was very proud of her.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Dressed her In their very best fur.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

They were a team. They worked well.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Herding game to nature\u2019s hell.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

A box canyon where they were trapped.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Taking the best game was a snap.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

They didn\u2019t kill for fun. Only to eat & survive.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0Selling furs kept them alive.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

They would fish to feed themselves.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

They were where nature dwells.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Several years passed by. <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Then, Mike was injured in a landslide.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

She drug him miles to civilization.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

On a cot made for the occasion.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

People were amazed by her feat.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

When done, she was still on her feet.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Mike recovered with medical aid.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

After a month resting in the shade<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

they headed for the mountains then.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

One year, they were never heard from again.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

But, their rumors will never die.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Others said they saw them bye and bye.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

No one could say for sure.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Yet somehow, they got a supply of fur.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
