When young, I was on my way to school.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I saw an owl in a tree. He said woo!!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I stopped and said “My name is Sam.”\u009d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Now that you know who I am,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

who are you? He just said woo!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was wondering what am I to do?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

When all the bird says is woo!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He flew away right after that.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

But, the next day, he was back.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Again, I heard him say woo!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I told him who I was too.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

“<\/i><\/b>Are you saying woo is your name”\u009d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He said woo again. Was it a game?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then he turned his head way around.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

“<\/i><\/b>Doesn’t that hurt?”\u009d I said with a frown.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He fluffed his feathers and shook his head.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

But, woo was all he ever said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Soon, he flew away again.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Flying high on the wind.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Next day, he was there, as usual<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

If he wasn’t, it would be unusual.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I said woo! before he did.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I thought he would flip his lid.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He just looked with big ole eyes.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Shook his head as if to say ‘nice try.’<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I tossed him a piece of apple.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He hopped down like going for a rat hole.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He grabbed the apple and returned to the tree.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then, he gobbled it up real fast, you see.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

He said woo! one more time.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then flew away to see what he could find.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After that, it was a morning routine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

For me not to have an apple would be mean.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Soon, he was taking \u00a0it from my hand.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Sometimes, on my arm, he would land.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

That day came when I was crossing the street. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I didn’t see the car rushing toward me. Screech.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The owl hit me in the back.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Knocking me out of the car’s track.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The owl had saved my life that day.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

For that, I give thanks when I pray.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We remained friends till he started a family.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

An old barn, outside of town, was their shanty.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I still see him now and then.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I give him apple because we are friends.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
