More Than A Friend (Part 9)<\/p>\n
Things were stirred up for a few days.
\nBut, the \u2018reptile\u2019 was not put on display.
\nWithin 2 days government agents arrived.
\nThey took it away. They didn\u2019t say why.
\nCoz, Tom, and dad thought they knew.
\nMore reptile control, to name a few.
\nMeanwhile, the story was out.
\nThe mayor\u2019s son was about.
\nHe had run away from home.
\nNow living with his uncle in Rome.
\nNo one bothered to check on this.
\nAfter all, the mayor said he would be missed.
\nAfter a while it all settled down.
\nCoz, Tom, and the girls were all over town.
\nThey were really enjoying their summer.
\nThings were getting serious. Is it any wonder.
\nOne day they all went to the beach.
\nThey even swam out past the reef.
\nThey were there till after dark.
\nJust as they were leaving, they heard a bark.
\nA dog was barking at something off shore.
\nHe ran back and forth and barked some more.
\nTom had some night binoculars with him.
\nHe looked out and his smile turned grim.
\n\u201cTake a look\u201d he said to Coz.
\nCoz took a look and gasped in awe.
\n\u201cWhat do you see?\u201d said Truly.
\n\u201cSomething I don\u2019t think we were meant to see.\u201d
\nIt looked like a submarine out in the cove.
\nA rubber raft was headed for their abode.
\nSuddenly, a breeze blew toward them.
\nCoz wrinkled his nose. He looked pretty grim.
\n\u201cIt smells like snakes are around here.\u201d
\n\u201cSnakes have a smell?\u201d Raywin said with fear.
\n\u201cYes, we had better get going.\u201d
\n\u201cWhat about those guys out there rowing?\u201d
\n\u201cForget about them. I think they\u2019re up to no good.\u201d
\n\u201cI\u2019m not sure they are doing something they should.\u201d
\n\u201cIf it\u2019s no good, I don\u2019t want to be around.\u201d
\n\u201cWe have to keep you girls safe\u201d he said with a frown.
\n\u201cOur hero\u2019s\u201d both girls said with a laugh.
\nSoon they were in the car and hitting the gas.
\nLater, after they were home again.
\nThey talked with their dad. \u201cIt happened again\u201d
\n\u201cWhat happened this time?\u201d dad asked.
\nCoz told him what had just passed.
\n\u201cI smelled reptiles for sure on the breeze.\u201d
\n\u201cIt definitely didn\u2019t put me at ease.\u201d
\n\u201cI wonder what they are up to now?\u201d Dad said.
\n\u201cAnd a submarine?\u201d he shook his head.
\nTom asked. \u201cDo they have an underwater base?\u201d
\n\u201cWhat? I hadn\u2019t thought of that.\u201d In haste.
\nDad then began scratching his head.
\n\u201cI suppose that is possible.\u201d
\n\u201cThe aliens have not been able to locate their hostel.\u201d
\n\u201cThey have a hidden base. Maybe more than one.\u201d
\n\u201cIt would be good if we knew where they came from.\u201d
\nThey decided to watch for a few days.
\nAt night, they would be doing their gaze.
\nUsing advanced night vision, of course.
\nWhat they will find out will change their course.
\nThat story will be told a little later.
\nWhen they start to track the invaders.<\/p>\n
