I heard a blue jay squawking.
\nIt wasn\u2019t me he was mocking.
\nHe was saying things, I was sure.
\nI just couldn\u2019t tell what they were.
\nThen, I heard a crow caw loudly.
\nHe seemed to be talking proudly.
\nThen a squirrel was making noise.
\nHe wasn\u2019t playing with any toys.
\nHe was chattering at another.
\nBetter that than fight with each other.
\nA song bird seemed to be singing.
\nDucks quacked, while overhead winging.
\nThe language of nature was there.
\nYou could hear it anytime anywhere.
\nIt would be great to know what they say.
\nI went inside and asked my African Gray.
\n\u201cPolly wants a cracker\u201d was all he said.
\n\u201cClam up dummy\u201d Was I out of my head?
\nHe only repeats what I taught him.
\nI just asked him on a whim.
