Funny How Time Slips Away<\/p>\n
I had a surprise the other day.
\nI went to lunch in the usual way.
\nThere I met an old high school friend.
\nI never expected to see her again.
\nThe high school years were long ago.
\nFar from here now, don\u2019t you know.
\nShe was happy, almost in tears.
\nBecause she hadn\u2019t seen me in years.
\nWe were close. She dated a friend of mine.
\nI thought they would get married, in time.
\nShe said she had been married for years.
\nTo another though, she added with fear.
\nShe said her husband recently died.
\nShe was on vacation to forget, she lied.
\nShe was with a female friend.
\nShe needed a change. Why pretend.
\nWe had a long talk about the good old days.
\nWe laughed, and joked about our silly ways.
\nAfter awhile, it was time to go.
\nI said now I would miss her so.
\nShe said it was good we met anyway.
\nIsn\u2019t it funny how time slips away.<\/p>\n
