Oh Sandy, the night is finally here.
\nWe have a date. That much is clear.
\nA nightclub for drinks and dancing.
\nMaybe time for a little romancing.
\nWe arrive and get a corner table.
\nWere in the dark as much as able.
\nSitting there with martini glazed eyes.
\nYou seem spaced out. What a surprise.
\nYou don\u2019t respond when I ask you to dance.
\nIt seems like you are in a trance.
\nYou have a one way ticket to yesterday.
\nYou just sit there with nothing to say.
\nAn occasional smile crosses your lips.
\nI didn\u2019t know you were into such trips.
\nI shake you and your vision clears.
\nYou ask for a drink, almost in tears.
\nAnother round of drinks are brought.
\nThen off you go, lost in thought.
\nYou have a one way ticket to yesterday.
\nThere is nothing else I can say.
\nI sit there and nurse my drink.
\nI need some fresh air so I can think.
\nAt closing time I take her home.
\nI am feeling like I am all alone.
\nShe says she really enjoyed the evening.
\nShe waves goodbye as I am leaving.
\nIt was the weirdest date I\u2019ve ever been on.
\nThe whole evening with her, she was gone.
\nI don\u2019t know if there will be another.
\nJust the thought of it, I have my druthers.<\/p>\n
