Picking Up The Pieces.<\/p>\n
Picking up the pieces of a love shattered heart.
\nTrying to reassemble it. I don\u2019t know where to start.
\nThe pieces don\u2019t seem to go together right.
\nThough I try and try with all my might.
\nIt is like trying to walk on very slippery ice.
\nI could slip and shatter it some more. Not nice.
\nI could cut corners and reshape a piece to fit.
\nMaybe I could hammer it in without a hitch?
\nAlas, It just doesn\u2019t work that way in the end.
\nAll the kings horses and all the kings men.
\nCouldn\u2019t put together the shattered heart again.
\nMaybe I can become one of the tin men.
\nNo heart needed, just a little oil now and then.
\nOh, is there no way to get over this pain?
\nCracking jokes and denying can drive one insane.
\nI have a feeling this will take a long time.
\nGoing through each day still wishing you were mine.
\nThis is different from physical pain.
\nIt can feel just as bad. There is nothing to gain.
\nI have been told learn from your mistakes.
\nBut, it felt so right. Why did it feel so great?
\nI could become a rock or an island.
\nLike the Paul Simon song. I would die by then.
\nI have my books and poetry to protect me.
\nEven so, I am still not able to be free.
\nFree from the pain, the hurt, the memory.
\nIf I dwell on it I am digging myself in further.
\nI must go, quiet as a mouse, not even a murmur.
\nGo into the world and live again.
\nWho knows, maybe I will make a friend?<\/p>\n
