\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pacos Pete<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pacos Pete was ornery old sot.<\/p>\n

Lived in a shack & slept on a cot.<\/p>\n

This old goat was a loner, it seems.<\/p>\n

Most people he met was in his dreams.<\/p>\n

Some say a hermit is what he was.<\/p>\n

It was harsh, though he never had a love.<\/p>\n

The desert was his home.<\/p>\n

He liked living alone.<\/p>\n

A small spring in the back of his place<\/p>\n

was enough for Pete to wash his face.<\/p>\n

It was enough for other little things.<\/p>\n

A bath was rare, usually in the spring.<\/p>\n

Pete didn\u2019t like other people around.<\/p>\n

Only once a month he went into town.<\/p>\n

A feisty coot, even though he was old.<\/p>\n

He would pay for his supplies in gold.<\/p>\n

No one ever bothered old Pete.<\/p>\n

Town folk made sure he got something to eat.<\/p>\n

One day , some \u2019no gooders\u2019\u00a0 came to town.<\/p>\n

They were out just roaming around.<\/p>\n

Here came Pete on his way into town.<\/p>\n

The bad boys looked at Pete with a frown.<\/p>\n

Pete went into the general store.<\/p>\n

Loaded up his truck & went back for more.<\/p>\n

How can he afford that the baddies thought?<\/p>\n

Look at how much stuff he has bought.<\/p>\n

Pete went into the caf\u00e9 for a bite.<\/p>\n

Just as soon as he was out of sight<\/p>\n

the baddies went into the general store.<\/p>\n

They asked the clerk how the old guy scored.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d said the clerk.\u00a0 \u201cDid he have cash?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, he pays in gold.\u201d said the clerk with a laugh.<\/p>\n

The bad boys were shocked to hear this.<\/p>\n

One of them said \u201cWell, ain\u2019t that a bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

They planned to follow Pete when he left.<\/p>\n

This would be their biggest theft.<\/p>\n

Pete came out & drove away in his truck.<\/p>\n

The bad boys followed crossing their fingers for luck.<\/p>\n

Pete headed straight into the desert.<\/p>\n

It was very hot that day in the desert.<\/p>\n

Pete kept driving. He had a long way to go.<\/p>\n

The bad boys car was starting to slow.<\/p>\n

Pete made it home a little after dark.<\/p>\n

Next morning he was awakened by a lark.<\/p>\n

He went outside \u00a0& saw buzzards circling.<\/p>\n

Pete knew that could only mean one thing.<\/p>\n

He got in his truck to check it out.<\/p>\n

It was\u00a0 drier than usual due to the drought.<\/p>\n

He found the bad boys car dead in the road.<\/p>\n

The \u2018owners were nowhere around,\u00a0 it\u2019s told.<\/p>\n

Pete knew the buzzards meant they didn\u2019t make it.<\/p>\n

Just as well he thought. most people can\u2019t take it.<\/p>\n

Pete had no knowledge what almost happened to him.<\/p>\n

But, Pete didn\u2019t worry. It wasn\u2019t in him.<\/p>\n

So goes the tale of Pacos Pete.<\/p>\n

If you pass his way bring him a treat.<\/p>\n

Pete will be polite, but he won\u2019t be a friend.<\/p>\n

Pete will live alone till the very end.<\/p>\n
