           \n     The Way Of Water<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We saw it in the desert & couldn\u2019t believe it.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A stone pillar, at least 40 feet tall,—- unlit.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t there a few days ago, I\u2019m sure.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We went on, driving like a blur.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon, we came upon a duplicate one.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

White stone, shining in the sun.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shades of 2001 A Space Odyssey has begun.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were worried. It didn\u2019t sound fun.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We kept driving and found 5 more. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set like a gigantic circle. There should be more.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each had a small box setting on its base.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some bizarre writing on each one\u2019s face.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, we saw it. Kneeling in the sand.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mixing up something, adding a liquid from his hand.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon, a stone pillar, shot up into the air. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another duplicate. We could only stare.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We yelled \u201cHey, what are you doing there?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A \u2018creature\u2019 looking like a nightmare dream.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roughly human shape, otherwise , obscene.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe 6 foot + tall and a little rank.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looked like he came from a Geneticists\u2019 tank.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He had a translator around his neck.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He spoke jumble, then it translated . What the heck?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said he was building a large portal.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All 20 pillars will make a bore hole.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom our world to yours. Many will transfer worlds.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy come here? What\u2019s wrong with your world?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is polluted. Can\u2019t even see the stars.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are an industrial people. That\u2019s who we are.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is our world. What about us?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou will be eliminated if you cause a fuss.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then he left. Leaving an empty box behind.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A vehicle like the Star Wars racers did unwind.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was gone across the desert in a flash.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We looked at each other. Our earth will be trash.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We hauled ass back to town.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Told what we saw to anyone around.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many went out to see if it was true.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Came back talking like me and you.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow do we stop this \u2018reptilian\u2019 accident?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe tried to shoot him. No such incident.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe seemed to really not want much water.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe used less than a skilled potter.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe must come from a world where water is limited.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo wonder he is building the gate here.\u201d he said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWater just may be his downfall I think.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe could test it by offering a drink.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe won\u2019t let us near now, after we shot.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have an idea that will fix his plot.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen he is done, he will power up the portal.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat will be his end.\u201d He said with a chortle.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He quickly told the others what he had in mind.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They all quickly got off their behinds.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They had much to do to prepare for the end.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They were ready when the \u2018creature\u2019 was ready to\nbegin.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u2018creature\u2019 pulled out some type of machine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He started working on it. The pillars gleamed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They started glowing brightly, lighting up the land.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just before he started, the town folk blew the dam.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tons of water rushed out across the desert.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u2018creature\u2019 unaware, was not fettered.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pillars connected with streams of light.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a \u2018woosh\u2019 the portal opened in their sight.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just as the first \u2018creature\u2019 started through,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A giant wall of water hit before they know.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a tremendous implosion<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

on the other side. The portal closed then.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u2018creature\u2019 screamed as water went over him.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He disintegrated, along with his machine &\nvehicle.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the pillars followed suit. Nothing else critical.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stories of that event are urban legend now.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dam was rebuilt. They knew how.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out here in the desert, water is precious.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

More so now after the \u2018creature\u2019 left us.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
