It was raining the day I got to town.<\/p>\n

Water falling from me all around.<\/p>\n

It seemed no part of me was dry.<\/p>\n

Water was dripping in my eyes.<\/p>\n

I stepped into a mall to get dry.<\/p>\n

I wiped the water from my eyes.<\/p>\n

Before me stood a \u00a0woman in red.<\/p>\n

Her beauty lost inside my head.<\/p>\n

She said I looked like a drowned rat.<\/p>\n

I said I was sorry about that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI walked into town in the rain.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat must have been a pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was,\u201d I said, water dripping down.<\/p>\n

There was silence. Not a sound.<\/p>\n

She said \u201cYou could use a warm drink.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI sure could.\u201d I said with a wink.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome on, I\u2019ll buy you some coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou bet.\u201d I said, \u201cBlack, not frothy.\u201d<\/p>\n

She laughed and led the way.<\/p>\n

As we drank she happened to say<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat brings you to this town?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPassing through on my way around.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAround to where?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo whatever comes into my head.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re a drifter then?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt depends on where I\u2019ve been\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat do you mean by that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not happy anywhere you\u2019re at?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnywhere\u2019s a better place to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a limited view, I can see.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCould you expand on that some more?\u201d<\/p>\n

She said \u201cHave you never made a score?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know.—- Someone to care for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had my share of small town glories.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing for which I would tell stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you think you will meet that \u2018someone?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPossibly, I won\u2019t know till that day comes.\u201d<\/p>\n

We talked on one thing, then another.<\/p>\n

Soon, we were happy we found each other.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been years now since that day.<\/p>\n

That \u2018special\u2019 someone came my way.<\/p>\n

This town is now my home.<\/p>\n

That lady in red is now known<\/p>\n

as my one and only love.<\/p>\n

That \u2018special\u2019 lady, from God above,<\/p>\n

is the spice of my life, my loving wife.<\/p>\n
