\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Summer, The First Time<\/strong><\/p>\n Remember the fun you had as a kid?<\/p>\n Building \u00a0tree houses with a trap door lid?<\/p>\n Building forts and secret caves?<\/p>\n If in the country, those were the days.<\/p>\n We rode bikes everywhere we went.<\/p>\n There were no gangs. Threats weren\u2019t sent.<\/p>\n We had fun exploring in the woods.<\/p>\n The dog was with us, like he should.<\/p>\n He kept us safe and we never got lost.<\/p>\n He would get us home at any cost.<\/p>\n We had our swimming hole in the creek.<\/p>\n Every summer that\u2019s where we would meet.<\/p>\n We didn\u2019t have phones to call home.<\/p>\n Our parents weren\u2019t scared cause we were alone.<\/p>\n We would ride our bikes to meet one another.<\/p>\n Before we left we\u2019d tell our mother.<\/p>\n We knew how to stay out of trouble.<\/p>\n There were mostly boys in our huddle.<\/p>\n We didn\u2019t have computers or games.<\/p>\n We would read a book when it would rain.<\/p>\n No i-pods, cellular phones, or x-boxes.<\/p>\n Yet, we kept busy finding where our sock is.<\/p>\n We would make up games to play.<\/p>\n Or, just lie around in the sun all day.<\/p>\n When we got older we had a summer job.<\/p>\n All of us found work. It wasn\u2019t odd.<\/p>\n There was still swimming after work.<\/p>\n On weekends we\u2019d pull on our clean shirt.<\/p>\n Then off to church we would go.<\/p>\n It was the way things were, you know.<\/p>\n When old enough to finally drive.<\/p>\n To the A & W, we would arrive.<\/p>\n Checking out the cute little car hops.<\/p>\n Playing the music that wouldn\u2019t stop.<\/p>\n Dating at the drive in with your favorite girl.<\/p>\n The entire time was such a thrill.<\/p>\n But, it\u2019s all just memories now.<\/p>\n If I had the chance somehow.<\/p>\n I would go back and live it again.<\/p>\n It would be good to see old friends.<\/p>\n Now I look forward to heaven.<\/p>\n That time won\u2019t end..
