\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Contemplating<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thinking back, my life is quite a story.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve had lots of girls & small town glories.<\/p>\n

I never found my soul mate.<\/p>\n

Even though, I\u2019ve had tons of dates.<\/p>\n

In high school I was considered a good catch.<\/p>\n

A football star with good looks to match.<\/p>\n

I played the field and loved it all.<\/p>\n

Be they tall or be they small.<\/p>\n

In my twenty\u2019s I was in a bar.<\/p>\n

With my buddy, we drove his car.<\/p>\n

We picked up two girls that night.<\/p>\n

What a time. It was out of sight.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve dated friends of friends & others.<\/p>\n

I would\u2019ve chosen different if I had my druthers.<\/p>\n

A few relationships got serious & lasted awhile.<\/p>\n

In the long run I have to smile.<\/p>\n

They didn\u2019t work out for this reason or that.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t always me that was the rat.<\/p>\n

Some have said look inward & I will see.<\/p>\n

The problem here lies within me.<\/p>\n

Thinking back in retrospect.<\/p>\n

That wasn\u2019t always true. What did they expect?<\/p>\n

Now that I am older and set in my ways<\/p>\n

you would think I could find a match\u00a0 someday.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m pretty much an independent guy.<\/p>\n

I often speak up. I\u2019m not too shy.<\/p>\n

I am not sure I want to be tied down.<\/p>\n

Though, I think I have both feet on the ground.<\/p>\n

Maybe it\u2019s a fear of giving up control?<\/p>\n

Now, I am the man, wherever I go.<\/p>\n

Some say I fear\u00a0 the commitment it takes.<\/p>\n

Am I afraid I will make mistakes?<\/p>\n

Whatever the cause, here I am, single.<\/p>\n

I still get the urge to mingle.<\/p>\n

But, I think I\u2019m destined to be a bachelor.<\/p>\n

Not because I couldn\u2019t catch her.<\/p>\n

I hate to be hurt or to hurt others.<\/p>\n

Too much emotion smoothers.<\/p>\n

Here lies the root of the problem.<\/p>\n

Best to keep it casual. Don\u2019t crowd them.<\/p>\n

That way no one gets hurt in the end.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t want a lover, I want a friend.<\/p>\n

Too bad there wasn\u2019t some way to have both.<\/p>\n
