Her Love For Me Never Dies<\/strong><\/p>\n I\u2019m on the road the biggest part of the year.<\/p>\n On a tour of one night stands.<\/p>\n I play and sing my songs as people cheer.<\/p>\n The standing ovations are so grand.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Then it\u2019s back to the hotel to spend the night.<\/p>\n Then on the road again the next day.<\/p>\n The planes, trains, rented cars & all the sights.<\/p>\n It makes me so exhausted, come what may.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I come alive when on the stage.<\/p>\n Singing my songs to everyone.<\/p>\n But, at night , I\u2019m so alone & afraid<\/p>\n that she\u2019ll still be there as I carry on.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And her love for me never dies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I come into town with my suitcase on my shoulder.<\/p>\n My guitar in hand as a taxi , I flag down.<\/p>\n I give directions as to where to pull over.<\/p>\n A place where I can finally put my burdens down.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Her home is up in Los\u00a0 Hadical.<\/p>\n She has a great view of the city.<\/p>\n The view looks almost magical,<\/p>\n in the mornings, when it\u2019s misty.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I knock upon her door & she answers right away.<\/p>\n She jumps into my arms like I was a long lost friend.<\/p>\n She always greets me like this after I\u2019ve been away.<\/p>\n Then,\u00a0 our time apart would instantly mend.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And her love for me never dies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n She is home most of the time.<\/p>\n She makes her living as a writer.<\/p>\n She writes about mystery & crime.<\/p>\n Of course, she\u2019s my favorite writer.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n She is high spirited and has an open mind.<\/p>\n We met at one of her book signings.<\/p>\n She recognized me & was oh, so kind.<\/p>\n She listens to my music when she is unwinding.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n From that, things developed\u00a0 till now.<\/p>\n Her door is always open to me.<\/p>\n I feel I couldn\u2019t unwind somehow<\/p>\n without her sweetness surrounding me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And her love for me never dies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the evening,\u00a0 I relax upon her couch<\/p>\n and feel her fingers feather soft upon me.<\/p>\n Too long on the road makes me a grouch.<\/p>\n she puts me back together. It\u2019s all for me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n She makes coffee in the morning. Always\u00a0 fresh ground.<\/p>\n Such a lovely sight to see.<\/p>\n Her hair hangs loose. Her robe wrapped loosely around.<\/p>\n She looks so beautiful to me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We have a week together which goes by way too fast.<\/p>\n I sing a song I wrote that was especially for her.<\/p>\n She was as excited as a kid\u00a0 hoping\u00a0 Christmas\u00a0 will last.<\/p>\n We are lost in each other\u2019s world. Her in mine & I in hers.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And her love for me never dies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I have never asked her to marry me.<\/p>\n I have often wondered why?<\/p>\n Just not enough time off the road, you see,<\/p>\n to make a commitment try.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Soon the time has come to leave.<\/p>\n A tear rolls down her cheek<\/p>\n She never once has\u00a0 tried to plead.<\/p>\n I get in the taxi looking meek.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n She says she will be there when I come again.<\/p>\n I smile and say I am praying for it.<\/p>\n Then off to the one night stands again.<\/p>\n My heart stays with her without regret.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And her love for me never dies.<\/p>\n —————————————————-R.
