<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Long Road Home<\/strong><\/p>\n He was from a small town in Northern California.<\/p>\n She always said that\u2019s where she was born, yeah.<\/p>\n She was really from the flat lands of Kansas.<\/p>\n They met in a little caf\u00e9 in Lands End.<\/p>\n She was just getting a bite while passing through.<\/p>\n He was taking a short break from his traveling too.<\/p>\n They started talking and hit it off well.<\/p>\n He was looking for sources of stories to tell.<\/p>\n He was a writer of songs and fiction.<\/p>\n She played guitar and sang with perfect diction.<\/p>\n He showed her some songs he\u2019d written.<\/p>\n She loved the lyrics and was truly smitten.<\/p>\n He didn\u2019t\u00a0 write music so\u00a0 he only had the words.<\/p>\n She said she felt the music & could add it to his words.<\/p>\n The words came alive with the music she was singing.<\/p>\n They became a team with the songs they were bringing.<\/p>\n Later, after, RV rally\u2019s, coffee houses,\u00a0 and Mall openings,<\/p>\n they hit it big when a music star asked them to\u00a0 open things.<\/p>\n They went on the tour and opened the show each night.<\/p>\n The audience loved them, cheering till they were out of sight.<\/p>\n Soon after they had a record contract.<\/p>\n She looked at him and said \u201c This is where it\u2019s at.\u201d<\/p>\n From north to south, east to west. Overseas and down under.<\/p>\n They traveled all around showing their thunder.<\/p>\n Record sales climbed as they became known.<\/p>\n Before long they were up for a Grammy as shown.<\/p>\n They didn\u2019t win but, they came close.<\/p>\n They sang on the show. It was the most.<\/p>\n They kept playing with a great big grin.<\/p>\n And the money just kept on pouring in.<\/p>\n Then one day, they got the word.<\/p>\n It was the worst news they had ever heard.<\/p>\n Her mother was dying. They went to her side.<\/p>\n Mom said \u201cYou remember the day your daddy died?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cRemember the promise you made at his side?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYes\u201d, she said, as she hung her head.<\/p>\n \u201cMake the same promise to me before I\u2019m dead.\u201d<\/p>\n She knelt and promised to give her heart to God.<\/p>\n He was shocked and thought it a little odd.<\/p>\n When they left she explained to him.<\/p>\n Her parents were Christian and sin was sin.<\/p>\n They wouldn\u2019t force her but, had her promise<\/p>\n as their last request. They were so honest.<\/p>\n They felt it was the only way to save their daughter.<\/p>\n Since leaving home she had partaken of much muddy water.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not against going to church\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cOh, would you?\u201d she cried. \u201cI want to go with you.\u201d She said.<\/p>\n \u201cNot for just when someone is dead or for wedding vows.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI have felt the urge for awhile but, to ask, I didn\u2019t know how\u201d<\/p>\n They studied the Bible and prayed For God to show<\/p>\n the right church\u00a0 where they could grow.<\/p>\n They were led to a church in Northern California.<\/p>\n They were on fire, let me warn ya.<\/p>\n They became filled with the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n Their music\u00a0 changed your heart to hear it.<\/p>\n Their music now became their ministry.<\/p>\n They were quite popular as you can see.<\/p>\n They won many soles for the Lord.<\/p>\n People heard Jesus in every cord.<\/p>\n They said The Lord was leading all the time.<\/p>\n We didn\u2019t know He said \u201cYou are mine.\u201d<\/p>\n Happier, they could not be.<\/p>\n They wish the same for you and me.———-R.
