The candy colored clown they call The Sandman<\/p>\n

slips into my room every night.<\/p>\n

He says: \u201cGo to sleep, if you can.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything —-will be alright.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I close my eyes and say a prayer.<\/p>\n

I pray that I will dream of you.<\/p>\n

Then, suddenly, you are there.<\/p>\n

In my dreams I\u2019m with you too.<\/p>\n

We walk along, as dreamers do.<\/p>\n

I hold your hand as I walk with you.<\/p>\n

You smile and say: \u201cI love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

I pray that this is really true.<\/p>\n

Then slow but, sure. You slip away.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m all alone standing there.<\/p>\n

I awake as I start to say—-.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I go back to sleep again.<\/p>\n

Soon, I am sleeping sound.<\/p>\n

I dream I have you back again.<\/p>\n

There is no one else around.<\/p>\n

Your standing there in all your beauty.<\/p>\n

I come to you with trembling lips.<\/p>\n

You turn and give yourself to me.<\/p>\n

I hold you firmly in my grip.<\/p>\n

Then I awake once more.<\/p>\n

I have a death grip on my pillow.<\/p>\n

A sound. I run to the door—-<\/p>\n

Of course, no one is there.<\/p>\n

You have left this earth forever.<\/p>\n

But, in my dreams, you still care.<\/p>\n
