{"id":931,"date":"2014-12-18T16:57:57","date_gmt":"2014-12-19T00:57:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wordsmithwisdom.com\/?p=931"},"modified":"2014-12-18T16:57:57","modified_gmt":"2014-12-19T00:57:57","slug":"addiction-blues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wordsmithwisdom.com\/?p=931","title":{"rendered":"Addiction Blues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Addiction Blues<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am back on the bottom again.<\/p>\n<p>The addictive personality got me when<\/p>\n<p>I wanted something to ease the pain.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t alcohol but, much the same.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just one pill did the trick<\/p>\n<p>It accelerated, oh so quick.<\/p>\n<p>After years since I took a drink.<\/p>\n<p>I took a pill and didn\u2019t think.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once the receptors have taken hold<\/p>\n<p>Anything addictive will unfold.<\/p>\n<p>Triggering the same centers in the brain<\/p>\n<p>That starts a craving worse than pain.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m so ashamed of what has occurred.<\/p>\n<p>People think it is so absurd.<\/p>\n<p>How could someone take that many pills?<\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t realize I have no will.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am going through detox again.<\/p>\n<p>I have support of many friends.<\/p>\n<p>I am praying to God above.<\/p>\n<p>Shower me with your love.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Give me strength to overcome.<\/p>\n<p>Give me a future filled with fun.<\/p>\n<p>But, mostly, just keep me clean.<\/p>\n<p>Keep me sober to the extreme.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bless all my friends who pray for me.<\/p>\n<p>Keep them safe as they can be.<\/p>\n<p>Without them I would be lost.<\/p>\n<p>I love them no matter what the cost.&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;R.
