One summer day he drifted into town.<\/p>\n

His time was spent just roaming around.<\/p>\n

He would go from one job to another.<\/p>\n

Never had a dad. Never had a mother.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Raised in an orphanage, I\u2019ve been told.<\/p>\n

Somewhere up north where it is cold.<\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t say much. Kinda quiet & shy.<\/p>\n

If he spoke at all, he just said hi.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He got a job working in a store.<\/p>\n

All he owned was the clothes that he wore.<\/p>\n

He worked long hours to earn his pay.<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t leave him much time to play.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Then one day a woman came in.<\/p>\n

Young, good looking, and real trim.<\/p>\n

He smiled & said \u201cCan I help you mamm?\u201d<\/p>\n

She smiled & said \u201cYou sure can\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It seemed that she needed some shoes.<\/p>\n

She had legs that would make front page news.<\/p>\n

He blushed as he helped her try on a pair.<\/p>\n

Then she ran her fingers through his hair.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

She said \u201cOh, I\u2019m sorry to be so bold\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsually people just call me cold\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, you remind me of my brother so much\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t help it, I had to touch\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cSee, he was killed last year in Iraq\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want so much to bring him back\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s so sad it breaks my heart\u201d<\/p>\n

He said, as he shuddered & fell apart.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s so kind. Don\u2019t be embarrassed\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsually people say I could care less\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause I am quiet & shy\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, somehow you have changed this guy\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

They started talking. It lasted for hours.<\/p>\n

Before she left he gave her flowers.<\/p>\n

They started dating. He settled down.<\/p>\n

Soon they were seen all over town.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In time they married and had a child.<\/p>\n

He ran for mayor. Now, that was wild.<\/p>\n

His platform was: I WILL STICK AROUND.<\/p>\n

I WAS A DRIFTER TILL I HIT THIS TOWN.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

People liked his style. They voted for him.<\/p>\n

The best mayor they ever voted in.<\/p>\n

When asked why he stayed in this place?<\/p>\n

He looked at his wife with a smile on his face.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I remind her of her brother, was all he said.<\/p>\n
